    If only you were in Adelaide Id prob be able to beg/steal the $$$, but freight cost would push it a bike to far :)

    Went to the lowood swap meet, arrived at 6:30am and it was only 5 degrees, really low turn out with both vendors and punters. Came home with an empty van

    Starting to prep tailpiece....., I know alcohol and fettling do not mix...,, I have a few horror stories involving dust sheets and rotating wire brushes.....,

    Anyway the current question for you guys is what experiences have had bonding all tail pieces together so they can be filled sanded and painted as one piece? This will look much better and currently you have to Bolt all three pieces together anyway before fixing to the bike so installation won't change, just the seamless finish...

    Is that spot putty ?
    I don't like the stuff personally, it tend's to shrink back when the primer goes on and dry's, then it'll shrink again when the colour goes on and dry's
    And again once the clear has dried

    Best off rubbing the lot back a bit more to remove any chip's, but make sure all edge's are feathered out well.

    To join the plastic's together is ok if it's done right, you need to strip all paint off all area's that are going to be joined, then scuff the plastic with something like 80grit dry freecut paper to give the adhesive something to bond to
    I'd use some of the Lord Fuser 148 (50ml) plastic adhesive
    It has a 5 minute work time, and need's to be clamped for at least 90 minute's to fully cure
    Once dry it can be filed and rubbed back so it'll leave no noticable join's, then primed and painted
    You dont need the special tool to mix it, you can mix it just like normal 2 part epoxy's

    It was good to finally meet someone from the forum! And thanks for showing me around, especially the wet blaster. I'm glad I wasn't there for the swap meet, I saw a photo on fb of someone taking a Ute and trailer load of dirt bike parts; I'd spend too much on not enough and get home to realise that I need to get rid of bikes, and unload it all for less than I paid... I've got to stay away from bikes for a while, I have a bunch to finish and sell, and a couple of projects to do.

    @sharky that is an awful lot of cleaning all too often, but pretty as!

    Yeah i bought a Lord Fusor Bumper repair Kit from my local crash supplie's shop year's ago to repair plastic's like bumper's, grille's, headlight's and fender's etc in my Paint/Panel shop, cost about $100
    The starter kit come's with quite a few bit's in it and
    I have used the metal bonding adhesive too, i fitted a roof skin back onto a Triumph TR7/TR8 rally car that had been removed to weld in a 10 point cro-mo roll cage
    Their adhesive's are excellent and aren't that expensive, they have all sort of adhesive's from soft flexible to rock hard, for plastic, metal and other's.
    They also have different drying rates too so if you need something to set/cure, can get superfast, fast or something med or slow setting they have the option's available
    I've used the fast set stuff on a few thing's that are hard to hold together, you only get 2 min's or so to position it before it start's to cure, it can be sanded back in 8 min's from application.
    The gun you normally use for the epoxy is like a small caulking gun but has 2x piston's which push the adhesive through the nozzle, the nozzle's also mix the 2 part's really well as it come's out, my gun is the red one on the right for 50ml cartridge's
    The 50ml cartridge's are mostly around $20ea

    First day I'd had off at home with the hubby in months. So, we went shopping, worked on the house reno's, normal couple stuff.

    I'd show the rear one, but one of the bolts snapped inside the wheel. Then several drill bits snapped attempting to get it out. Fortunately, no tempers were snapped in the re-building of this motorcycle. So far. Prior owner may one day spontaneously combust from the pure rage radiating from my direction, but that'll never be traced back to me. Surely. A couple of hours in, I feel like Mia's looking significantly worse. Can only get better, right? Right????

    Did you know that brake fluid can solidify? I didn't know brake fluid could solidify. Brake fluid can solidify. In 5,000km. 5,000km done in a year. Allegedly. Oh my aching sides. It is to laugh.

    This is not 802ml of fork oil. That is approximately 300ml of toxic waste. I thought I was annoyed about the 21 year old dirt. Oh, sweet Summer child, I didn't know what annoyance was all those weeks ago...

    2 people, 7 hours and $100 in new tools later ("gosh, what a shame, I'll just pop down to Bunnings again, shall I?" she says, innocently) Mia has new fork oil, new front disc, new rear disc, new rear brake pads, new rear piston rubbers and sexy new braided rear brake line. So, so sexy.

    Hehe. She might need her front brakes first. :D Cleaned up the front master cylinder, but there's still a lot to do. We're going to pull apart the caliper and see how that one is (rear had SOLID brake 'fluid' in parts of it completely blocking it up...very worried about the front ones after that!!!), clean it all up, new brake pads, new brake lines then reassembly. About half way through today I was ready to set fire to Mia and use a catapult to pop her flaming carcass through the prior owner's front window. Then go get a shiny brand new Royal Enfield instead.
    Services every 5000km, my butt. Wow, good thing I don't have a temper. :lolsign:

    I think I have next Sunday off so I may even get to ride again this decade. :party:

    Oh My..................did the clutch on the GB today..Must have removed the clutch hub 5 times and the cover 7 or 8 times, trying to work out why my clutch cable had stretched to the point of being useless :) I only changed the friction rings(old ones were still well inside the serviceable limit...doh!!!) double triple checked every thing and everything in its place, no spares floating around. Just didnt make sense..... I tell ya it was doing my head in....anyway looking at the exploded view in the parts list noticed there was 2 part numbers for the clutch friction rings 1 number for 1 and another for the rest....DOH! Yep there is one ring which has a big ID than the rest for the judder ring to slip through...Dum-ass found it in the middle of the pack lol...ahh well, learned something new so not a total loss.......
