    Murdo might have better ideas, but alignment is the biggest issue. There is a lot of work in making a tool set: a tube that fits closely to blank-shaft bolt with a cutting face. A bit like a valve seat cutter.

    Lets be realistic... It is around A$130 for a brand new lower housing...and the same for another compete set of forks.,.... the cost of trying to set up to do a 1 off machining job isnt worth it.

    Well, you could try a grinder stone in a rotary tool or mill bit in a drill, but as mentioned, there are cheap enough options to not need to bother.

    S o.. I didnt machine the fork lower.. or fill it with oil...
    I did re-arrange the garage as I have sold my Parts washer and wanted to move things to give me some more room..
    Having all the shelving down one side now opens it up more and it isnt as dark in there now either... I still have a lot of sorting and throwing out to do... so more next weekend and also Easter.
    I threw the forks back into the Postie bike so I could move it around.. I even managed to get the front brake sorted out... plus put the Air cleaner back on and temp fitted the other plastics.
    Now 3 of the 4 bikes all live in the one space... easy to move the Postie and Spada to work on the SRX so that is a plus...
    I also need to start sorting out the changes to my Sand Blast cabinet to make it into a Vapour Blaster...

    Sold another bike. The gixxer 600 is ready to ship out. I have sold more bikes in the last 3 months than in the past 3 years, I think.. I'm on a roll! Who's next? KX 250, YZ 250, KDX 200, one of the project/parts bikes? The CBR400?... I better get that one on the road, first.

    Mrs. Linkin and I did some late shopping. Lugging it all home in the ventura bag (very handy), some not-too-bright car driver thought he could intimidate a motorcyclist by staying too close, and various other antics... After multiple traffic light stops this person was still being a nuisance, so I *ahem* took off with a bit of spirit at the next set of lights. Let's just say the front end felt a little bit light as we made our away from an inconvenient moron :fuckyou:

    If you have a bad motorists behind you, I find the best solution is to pull over and let them in front of you. Not worth the risk. As someone who has driven buses, trucks, cars, motorbikes and bicycles on the road, I've learnt (and been told) that you have to think for others, because they only cars and think everyone is like them. Stay safe.

    Forks arrive late yesterday from Cowra for the Postie bike.
    I just had a cursory glance at them but they look to be in far better condition than the old ones.
    I might even get a chance to strip them today.
    I will pull the new seals out of the old ones, coat of paint and they will be sweet.

    Replaced brake fluid, original looked like it was the original from factory...
    Whipped exhaust manifold off, cleaned and treated rust, sprayed with exhaust paint :D


    Also not sure if this welding job is factory standard haha

    IMAG0772.jpg IMAG0777.jpg Finally got the spare MC22 back together in one piece.
    Chinese fairing kit is typically of average fit and finish, but will do the job.
    A white kit and orange wheels and seats looked a bit strange, but I think the Repsol decals did a reasonable job of tying it together thematically.
    Gotta strip it back down to fix some leaking carb bowls :mad: , but am otherwise pleased with how it has turned out.

    Took the KX 250 for a ride, but the grass is too long and it was just no fun. :-( So, I took the pushbike for a ride, because I don't have a registered bike :'(

    Finally got the zxr running but only on easy start will it go and will only idle at 5k when I balance the carbs as the carb with the little arm that goes to the idle control gets pulled away from the idle screw . Anyone have this issue before or have any ideas ?

    Be careful that the intake boots clamps aren't catching on the throttle arms. Had that issue.

    Sounds like you may have an issue with your balance screws in that the carbs are getting too much air. Did you bench sync them before doing it on the running engine? If the butterflys are sealing properly and you're having issues starting or idling, then I'd also look at your idle circuit and your air/fuel jet settings. How many turns out have you got them set to?

    And make sure your vacuum tubes are all connected.

    I've the arms all cleared from catching on the boots or anything I'm thinking it must be the pilot circuit thanks for the help guys . And yes I have bench balanced them and the bike will run but just won't idle it's odd I must investigate things

    Trying to finish off revising the garage layout... New power circuit run with 2 x 4 bank outlets and a dual 15 amp GPO.
    New 2 metre long workbench 60% done (ran out of timber due to changes in my plans) but should be finished today.
    Also some new (I have had the lights for 3 years) LED lights for above the benches to be wired up as well...
    Back down to Bunnings shortly for the rest of the timber.

    Finally got it started up since putting it back together. Ended up getting it to idle at around 1500rpm, Im not sure what the normal idle rpm is.
