THIS!, THIS is why everyone loves electrical gremlins - usually when you go to fix it though, it's working, which means you cannot fix it, then when you are not able to fix it, it stops working...everybody sing along with me now...and we go round the Mulberry Bush, the Mulberry Bush

I'll come close to that, LOL. Got my first Covid jab today. I reckon it brings on senile dementia. Took the wrong offramp on the way home. Had two goes at tacking the oil tank mounts on for the little Triumph - both wrong. Walked away - one of those Fridays....Topped up the sugar in the bloodstream, spent half an hour persuading a tighter curve into a 2.5mm steel bracket and the third attempt seems to be correct.
I'm getting overconfident in old age. the wrong bend should have been picked up earlier.

It happens on the downward side of the Bell curve... commonly known as unconscious incompetence.... and that isnt the "bell-end" curve either... :)

After much complaining, whining, bitching, I accidentally bumped the earth wire from the harness going to the battery and it popped out of the bullet connector.... minus the connector. Stupid broken wire, guess who is a Muppet who changed a whole harness and relay box for a broken earth wire

Well, at least now you have a second good harness! What did you do with the butchered one?

On the fifth attempt - and second set of brackets - the bottom mounts are in the right place on the Triumph oil tank...
And a mate came round to give me a hand to fire up a overbored 500 Honda flattracker....It runs so i can hand it back.
Pleased to see the back of it.

Replaced the undertail on the 900 hornet, realizing that the blinker relocation bracket had rust under the paint I've started stripping the paint off. Have to pull the undertail loose to get to the mounts for the rear fender, to undo the brakelight, to install the relocation bracket so now the tail is just hanging from 2 bolts waiting on me to finish that bracket. Of course I lack a blasting cabinet so waiting on paint stripper to do it's magic. I'm certain since I'm going through the trouble to put the stock fender back in place, I'll never see rain while riding again. About to head to the hardware store to see if I can find some stock to make spacers out of for the luggage rack. Need to mail back some bits the seller of the racks sent (spacer for the tail rack which I'm not interested in.) It's 34C and rising so not a bad time to spend a few hours in air conditioning getting other things done I guess!

The zxr is all good now , I managed to get out yesterday for a good ride with no issues . I stopped at a servo for some fuel and had an older guy asking me about it , he was blown away someone made a 4 pot 250. He said back in his day, his 250cc BSA was a single , he could believe it had 4 cylinders and was even more surprised when I said it had 4 carbs.

Yep, took my little Mc22 road bike out for a bit of a run to do some shopping on Friday.
Lots of fun off form the traffic lights winding it out to 17k+ on every gear change (up to the legal speed limit of course).

Drilled out/cut an old bar end weight to make spacers for the luggage rack. Not sure what that stuff is made out of (zinc?) but it was like cutting butter compared to steel. Should be able to get the racks mounted up pretty quickly once I finish the exhaust hanger.

Last night went to a buddies house to fab up an exhaust hanger for the 900 hornet (known weak spot.) Went to drill the holes today. Could barely get a clamp on with the bracket in place so started with the top most hole. Lined up well with the center stand hanger. Bolted it up tight, center punched it in place. 2nd hole is 1/4" off :headbang:. Now I'm trying to figure out how I can wedge from under the header to get it in position before marking the 3rd hole. Then again maybe I should just follow the template since apparently my method of marking holes is ****.

Finished road tuning the VC carb on my cbf250 (cbx250 twister).
Making heaps more power at all throttle positions and sounds great.
It turns out finding needles is harder than it sounds. I had to machine the needle using a cordless drill and bit of sand paper. Worked a treat.

Seeing as though we were good kids and listened to our premier , our lockdown was lifted at 4pm, so I took the 900 out for a run, I have been riding the zxr250 every chance I get. The poor old 900 hadn’t been started in over a month , glad to say it ran like a top

I also got my wheels painted for my mc22 project , the painter just has the tank
To go and she will be ready for sale

Finally got around to sorting a few things on the SL125, once I found most of the bits I needed.
I had previously laced up the front Chinese Alloy wheel using the spokes from Thailand (Vintage Avenue) and hadn’t really paid too much attention to it other than it was pretty true.
Today I finally fitted the wheel bearing and before putting the tyre and tube on I was a little concerned at how the spokes were sitting in the hub. Just didn’t look right. Slipped the wheel into the forks and it is offset massively. Hmm made a blue there but after playing around a bit I came to the conclusion the spokes are not right.
So I have sent out a message to Ash’s Spoked Wheelz about a set of custom stainless spoke.

It's a Honda Chris. It could have sat there for years and it would have probably started and run!

Modern fuel has a different story to tell. The green monster has attacked a number of carbies, including Honda's.

I finally beat the beemer , I bought this clapped out 1995 BMW k1100lt ex police bike a few years back as a non runner , my intention was always to part it out. One of my very close mates heard I had an ex cop bike and he was like … that’s awesome and he wanted me to fix it up so he could ride it to Sydney for the police remembrance ride. I was a bit hesitant , but a Mates a mate , so I proceeded to install a new fuel pump, kit the master cylinder , service it etc

I got her going but she blew lots of smoke , I asked around and no one wanted to touch it , it was suggested that i give her a 3bond bath , ie pull the plugs and fill the pots with three bond and let it sit for a few hours. It ran better , but still plenty of smoke.

Many months roll by and I am developing a extreme hatred of the bike … it is my elanor , I swear it is jinxed.

i started shopping around for a replacement engine and ended up speaking to a guy who runs a BMW workshop , he said 144k is barely run in and it must be something else . He did ask what oil I was running, I figured it being a 95 model with fuel injection , surely it can run on 10w 40 semi synthetic oil. This guy was like .. aahhh you young kids ..: drop them oil , replace it with 20w 50 mineral oil and you will be sweet , thank me later

I did as was told , and it started up with fresh mineral oil and 30 seconds later the smoke was gone. I replaced the tyres, fitted new fork seals and took it in for a road worthy and it passed first go.

the new owner came into today and picked up his paperwork and went and registered the bike and asked me to take it out for a shakedown ride.

it is a public holiday here today so I managed to get about 75kms on her , it is not my cup of tea , but it runs and rides.

moral of the story , always listen to that grumpy old beemer mechanic , they know their stuff

Good luck with that. He never rings you back or replies to messages left. I've given up on him and will make the bits I need myself.
Those spokes look ok to me, I would be happy to ride on them.

It's not my cup of tea either, mainly because when you saw one behind you with lights lit, you knew you were on the S#$T - at least they were easy to spot if you were looking...

    Great work on the restoration
