So, what is your dream bike and why? Is it a 250cc? Is it a bigger bike? Is it a/the bike you own now? What about a previous one you begrudgingly parted with and think about every day? For me... if money permitted I'd go back to the Kwakkers and get this (Z800). I liked my old z750's mid range torque, riding position, look (with a tail tidy!) and overall performance. It suited who I am, and when your wife thinks your bike is sexier than you - I figure that's a tick of approval. No judgements, just sharing the dreams....
This is actually the bike that inspired me to finally go and get my licence. Now that I'm actually learning to ride I'm not convinced my dream bike won't change. Ducati seems to be a name rattling around in my skull a lot but I'll wait until I have more real-world experience before I decide
Well it'll be no surprise for me to say and 500 2 stroke GP bike from the mid 1980s. Wether it be Hondas Rothmans NS 500, Pepsi Suzuki 500 or the Marlboro Yamaha. I would love to own any replica of one of those.
I'm a big fan of the Ducati 999, but to be honest as long as I have something I can ride then it's all good. Having something like an old gp bike TZ250 , TZ350 would be great to take out to bike shows and show off some history
Maico 760cc (aircooled two stroke single cylinder) with a proper balance job in a modified café style frame. Some Ohlins forks and shocks, Brembo brakes on suitably big discs and a small 'Bikini' style fairing around the 'Ace' bars fitted with Magura controls. These engines were made in the late '70s by fitting a modified 99mm Porche piston to a 501cc engine. They had so much torque that they only needed a 4 speed box. I made a similar one using a 1971 400cc 4 speed back in about '83. It had the ace bars, bikini fairing, café seat, etc. I used a Yamaha R5 350 twin leading shoe front hub laced into an Akront 'W' rim to match the back one. I fitted a 12 volt alternator/cdi ignition from a Bombadier and used a Suzuki 750 waterbottle muffler. I made some mods to the forks and fitted Girling rear shocks. It would go where I thought about in a corner, stop on one wheel and I so enjoyed giving the RD brigade a hard time through the twisties (Oxley Hwy) to the coast. Last I heard was it was sold to WA.
I'd love to have all my old bikes back, yes I too think about them every day At the moment I'd buy a new H2 in a heartbeat but then I'd loose everything in the divorce .
You can get something close to it on the road in AUS Briz. Guy in Sydney sells YZR500 replicas using an RZ500 engine and custom frame with ohlins etc. Then there is the Ronax 500. For me probably a Vincent HRD Black Shadow for something old and an RC30 or maybe RC45 for something newish.
Pretty much my zx7r. I love it that much. If I were to win lotto it would get a money no bounds rebuild. I might also add amongst others one of these to the flock.
For BLING sake it would be an MV Agusta F3 OR F4 For cruising the highway in comfort perhaps a Honda VFR800 The new Suzuki GSXS1000 due out soon would be tempting Reality is the Bandit is getting me there, nice to Dream as it's still tax free, "government is working on it " !!!! Of course would love to have her back
So many bikes, so little time!! I would consider the following if I had plenty of cash and access to unrestricted twisties!! Ok last one is probably the most practical. To be honest all of the bikes posted so far are great and I would ride the guts out of all of them. In reality,I think my next roadbike will be another Ducati or an Aprilia.
