hey... i lost the plastics for my bike when I layed it down, and am now going to street fighter it. Has anyone done this to thier bike before? Basically I am wondering when guage cluster and headlamp would work on the FZR... perhaps off another bike? thnx

Surely there's a photo of the SOBIL around somewhere. If not i'll try and get one next i see him and his bike.

It's a bit more tedious than just removing all the fairings and calling it a streetfighter. Alot of time needs to be spent looming and hiding the wiring, re-routing a heap of cables in the process. Your also going to need a new headlight setup if you want to do it properly. Can either pay through the nose for one of the twin headlight setups (Austreetfighter.com) or you can hunt down a second hand single headlight like the Suzuki SV650 nakeds have.
As for intruments, whilst it might be possible to retain the stock instruments if your going to do it properly you'll need a new cluster. The one SOBIL has just fitted to his bike i was very impressed with; i think it's one of the dirt bike ones but it does everything and i believe RRP ~$200.

If your feeling keen on doing this you might like to do a conversion work log with some photo's so we can see how it's all coming along.

ya, I've thought about it, and it seem that either im going to have to find new fairings which is pretty much impossible in my area, or street fighter it. I was poking around yesterday, and the wiring dosent seem that complicated to hide. I wouldnt buy a new headlight, I think I would try to find one from an old bike, like a gs500 or something. we will see. if I go through with it, I will definately take some pics.

Ahhhh...sounds like you need some pics from my baby. A St Fighter front end with no fairings to mess up the looks. I'll see how I go get some posted but I'm not too familiar with doing it here.

Now if only I can find a turbo small enough....

Super...

I am currently undergoing a streetfighter conversion.

I dropped it a white back and smashed the fairings up pretty bad. I found some new ones on ebay for about $150 each, but they were unpaited, then I stumbled across some pics of one on ebay that someone has converted. It looked evil

I have started stripping my bike down and decided that i'm going for broke...
That may end up meaning going broke... heh. My biggest concern atm the moment is hiding the igintion wiring, cos without the faring its prett vulnerable
My mate has an xj650 that has a few parts like the speedo and light that would fit on fairly easily, but the wiring is going to be the big hurdle.

If anyone has any feedback on this I would be keen to hear it

I'd highly recommend ditching the instrument clutster in favour of one of the small digital setups. The only downside to this is you lose your bike's lifetime odometer.

Yep, but its still a nice placebo to have a false number in front of you!

I've been looking on ebay for headlights and the like, can anyone tell me of anything to steer clear of? I like the look of the RGV style twins. I have someone lined up to fab a bracket for me.
I am a bit worried about certain wattages or maybe wiring that is going to mess with my electricals. (I'm going to be rewiring most of the stuff up the front, but am hoping to get away with as much original wiring as possible.)

I have seen a few posts about auststreetfignter but cant seem to locate the site. Am I technologically impaired?

The above pic is from a guy on customfighters.com in America and is a great idea to eliminate the weight and visual interference that normal idiot lights provide.

On a side note the lights will be available as of the end of the week when i can get pics up, it will be an immediate bolt on streetfighter mod.

look in the buy it area at the end of the week if interested.
