This is the collection of bits that I purchased several weeks ago..............

since then I have been slowly rebuilding it, figuring out where brackets and bits fit along the way.
I have all the electrics working, bar the oil pressure light (faulty switch) and have ordered some of the missing parts (radiator lower mounting bracket, rear lamp unit, left side switch unit, engine bolt set, horn, front under cowl, headlamp and CDI) from Japan. This was before I stumbled across this great forum. I am now pestering Kiffsta for some more bits that I need :thumb_ups:

I have now got most of the bike assembled - I didn't bother fitting the exhaust as I know where that goes and it does fit! Ditto the screen.
So here is where I am at now..............

Clearly it has been down on the left side, but nothing too serious that a skim of filler wont fix. I was puzzled by the large hole on the upper flank of the right side upper fairing panel. Googling images of the Across shows it to be for an indicator to poke through. Was this a market-only modification (to comply with Australian traffic regulations maybe)? Plan is to either leave as is, or glass fibre the inside of the fairing and fill the hole with body filler. As I am inherently lazy, option 1 is looking the favourite.

    Thanks guys :thumb_ups:
Never tackled body work before - I usually pay someone else to do it for me. Thought I would have a go myself on the Across.
I have ordered a Caramel Wheel - never heard of this bit of kit before but I do like the name!

So, having sorted through all the loose parts that came with the bike, I am left with these...............

which I know came from the Across as I have seen them on Yahoo Japan auction site, where they are listed as "cooling aids".
Where do they fit on the bike?

Now this may, or may not, be from the Across as I have some spurious GSXR 250 bits mixed in with the Across bits..........

The lower pics are from a gsxr 250 gj73a..the bracket holds the carb breather box on the LHS of the frame just behind the LHS coil..not sure if its used somewhere on the across as well though :D

Thanks Simon - I will have a look in that area of the Across to see if there are any holes that align with the bracket :thumb_ups:

These go on the LHS and RHS of the engine. Between the engine and the frame. The across used a few rubber bits to deflect heat away from the storage box above the engine. I'll see if I can find some pics for you as to the exact mounting of those. There is normally a large rubber piece (or two) that goes over the engine from the radiator. Also @kiffsta is a bit of an across guru, so he may be able to help when he checks this thread.

    Thanks Frankster

I would never have figured that out - I wonder if their purpose is to deflect hot air out through the fairing vents?

Guess I will have to go back into the garage and fit them now...................

speaking of which - the original rear master cylinder was seized beyond repair. I took a chance bid on a GSXR400 GK76A unit on ebay. It came complete with hoses, fittings and fluid reservoir and fits a treat ! Everything - the cylinder, fittings, hoses and fluid reservoir are identical to the original Across items. So now you know..............:D

Air filter - the original fitment filter has a 13780-05A00 part number. It is still available (mostly in the USA) as it fits the Suzuki Marauder (not a big seller in the UK), but has been superseded by part number 13780-01D00, which fits the Marauder and the GS500. So I have one on order, awaiting delivery.
