IMG_0876.jpg I only found this thread last night and so very interested to read, Garry, as I am another UK Across owner (in South Yorkshire). I took my Across for its UK MOT test (a retest really) this morning (Sept 2nd) and it passed, and now taxed. This means it is on the road for the first time in about 10 years! The fail on the first test was on both front and rear wheel bearings. I am currently waiting for deliveries from CMSNL & Megazip for various fasteners to tidy it up - it has been a long wait for these. The recent good weather here and staying at home got me working on it, finally, in the last few weeks.

Next jobs, probably over winter: brake caliper rebuild with new hoses and pads, fork service and springs (GS500?), refit bottom fairing, replace the Honda chain guard, replace the rear mudguard which is held on by self tappers, convert hoses to Tygon F-4040 etc. etc. I also think I have got an intake leak to fix somewhere as once warmed up it is idling at 4000rpm.

I intend to go to Squires Cafe (Sherburn-in-Elmet) on it in the next few weeks, and hope to be there for the 2 stroke weekend on September 12th - I am also rebuilding a '92 RGV250. Hopefully will get there on the Across......

Any other UK Across owners on here?

    Welcome!
good to see another Across in the UK, owned by another 2-stroke fan, just like me :thumb_ups:
I used to be a regular at Squires (both old and new venues) - I started going there when I was 14 (51 years ago!) as pillion on BSA's, Triumph's, Norton's etc. Now I have moved to the coast, I don't get there that often anymore. Hope you get good weather for the 2 stroke meeting.
Was your Across complete when you got it? Did it come from DK's?

Thanks, Garry, and interesting to read about your background and interests. Perhaps let me know if you are ever thinking of going to Squires?

Yes my Across is a DK bike, based on the number plate. I bought it on eBay, as a complete running bike in March 2009 for £400 - I was the only bidder. This was the time when you could get an RGV250SP for £1200 - I should have bought a few more! I was the only bidder, and so caught the train down to Derby and rode it home. I put new tyres, chain and sprockets and speedo converter on it, but could not stop it over revving on idle after taking carbs off etc. and so left it for a few years. Now parts can be found it is a little bit easier. It got a oil and filter change, new air filter (yes, 13780-24D00), plugs & plug leads in the last few weeks. Then had to change the front and rear wheel bearings for the MOT. I have only done about 50 miles on it so far since getting it back on the road and it got soaked today. The trip to Squires, weather permitting, will give me chance to see it can go over 70 mph (only done local roads so far and so not gone over 10,000 rpm yet)!

I go it from megazip.net earlier this year when I did a bulk order for car and bike parts - maybe you have already used Megazip? It is still showing as available but best to combine with other parts to spread the shipping cost. It will take a few weeks to arrive and even longer if you order just before a Japanese festival holiday week as I have managed to do twice.....

There is also Impex-jp.com plus a host of other suppliers that you can source bits from.
I have tended to use Impex as they are a little cheaper and their freight has also been cheaper then Megazip. some guys like to use Boats.net as they seem cheaper but I havent found that to be the case for me.
Lots of choices... all down to personal preference really.
