    Hi,

I have a project going where I want to install a Suzuki GT250 X7 engine in a single cylinder dirt bike frame. Before I buy an X7 engine (relatively rare where I am) I have to check how much the frame needs to be modded. Would it be possible to get a couple of dimensions?

Dimension A  -    Width of front engine mounts
Dimension B  -    Width of rear engine mounts
Dimension C  -    Width between exhaust / muffler down pipes

I have to work out where the main frame mods need to happen.

Thanks very much for your help.

    Hey Ian
Phils X7 has the engine in the frame and its hard to measure, here's some rough measurements

    Dimension A  -    5.5cm
Dimension B  -    14cm ( Approx) There is a spacer betwen the side of the engine and the frame, this measurement does not include the spacer
    Dimension C  -    10cm (Approx)

Does anyone have an X7 engine out of the frame to get some more accurate measurements ?

edit - I sent Fuzzball and Crspy a PM as I think they both have their engines out and would be easier for them to measure

    A. 56mm
    B 140mm

Can't help with C as the top end is all apart, but the conrod spacing is 100mm

Will try to get a look tomorrow, though it seams I have been hit with the first big bug of the year (in spring) so no promises.

    Hi All,

Thanks very much for your help. My frame has 2 down tubes, so the twin exhaust is probably not going to clear the frame. If anyone has the outside measurements from L exhaust to R exhaust that would also be great.

As mentioned, I am looking to convert a single into a twin.

    Thanks,

    Ian B.
