Nothing like a good day out on the bike. Here are a few pics from today. Had a group of about 20 bikes...

Well anyone interested in a ride on the 5th of April. I came across a flyer
for an Autumn Run with a group called CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) $20 to register covers morning tea, lunch and drinks.
Run as follows;

Wilberforce to Broke ( Putty Road yum! )
Lunch at Broke
Broke to Road Warriors Cafe ( Old Pacific Hwy yum again! )
Then home

Total of 270 kms

Ride Contacts

Mick Davie 0429 616 032
Lou Clark 0404 082 081

Apparently everyone is welcome.

I was thinking of going, just wanted to see if anyone here is interested. I'm a bit scared turning up in quite possibly the only 250 in a horde of, well, bigger bikes .
Having two or three 250s might be a bit better

You will find the CMA will have all types of bikes and ability riders if my experience here is anything to go by. I have been on a couple of CMA rides here and found that on occasions I have had trouble keeping up to the front runners at anywhere near legal speeds. On the other hand I had followed behind one fellow on gsx-r600 with 40mm chicken strips

I don't even know the rules to group riding, apparently it varies a lot.
Since you been in a few rides with the CMA how about a run down
Cheers Dave

Group riding is pretty easy - Different groups may vary slightly but a common theme is the rider leading and tail-end charlie will wear flouro vests so you know where the start and finish of the group are. The first rider behind the leader will stop at a corner (the leader will usually wave to you to stop) with indicators flashing (and/or point) the direction of the turn if the group turns off.

Rider remains at corner until until tail end charlie comes up and then takes off in front This can be a bit boring if the group gets spread out. I have waited up to 15 or 20 minutes.

It is usually considered uncool to pass other riders in the group, but if they really annoying you then pass when safe. Sometimes some of the riders will pass you and everybody else so they can get to corner mark sooner. They get a bit of a reputation for it, not cool.. They tend to pass you when you don't expect it..

I generally find the faster riders tend to start off at the front, so keep in mind where you fit in and what road is coming up so that you can be near the front when a "good bit" comes up, Nothing worse than being at the back with a few of the slower riders with a magnificent stretch of twisties in front.

Have a search of the net as have found lots of articles on it before..

Good luck
