The jet's have a 8mm head which is 4mm tall, the thread is M5, pitch is .7mm, and the thread is 5mm long The series of main jet is Mikuni N100.604 these main jet's are $6.39ea at Mikuni oz The main jet o'ring size is
So she sounds OK at the moment but I think I mentioned before really ticky... I mean really. So there's a valve or two probably needing attention - they probably settled after I polished them and yeh... The big issue I have is the throttle cable at the moment, the sheath is falling apart (it's 635mm long) at the ends. Can you pull the end caps off (the metal ones) and re-fix them/recondition it? or should I look for a new sheath? The ends are identical and standard, one pushes into a 90 degree connector that goes to the throttle itself. Unfortunately it's a single which isn't interchangeable with the push/pull 3LN cables I have a couple of. The thing was definitely catching and I wasn't game for a test ride with the throttle stuck on... I know wemoto sell a cable repair kit for pittance so the cable is easy enough sorted.
You can warm up the black outer and slide the metal sleeve's over then gently crimp them on to make them firm
Sooo I've tried everything to fix this throttle cable issue. I need a replacement one... anyone got one? 135mm long give or take, single throttle cable. All the FZR's have dual (push/pull) and I can't get OEM and the repair kit adapters don't fit... frustrating. I wonder if the 2KR has the same throttle cable... hmmm..... @my67xr ?
I used these on my 3LN6. Not sure if the FZ/2KR's are the same http://www.motorcyclespareswarehouse.com.au/products/yamaha-fzr250-throttle-cable
Yeh they're the dual push/pull ones. The FZ has a single throttle cable (pull only). I have a spare set of the duals I tried to retrofit but it's too long.
Wonder what length this one is, might work ? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/fre...32643646732.html?spm=2114.40010408.3.1.v96p8N
Hi Joker. There is a place called Speedscreen PTY LTD in Victoria (03) 9357 6603. Have never used them myself though , but maybe worth a call.My throttle cables are N.L.A also , have just started looking around to see what's in OZ. Just found this place ,details below. They seem to be motorcycle friendly so that's a bonus these days. Conwire Pty Ltd Unit 10, 14 Sheridan CloseMilperra, NSW 2214 Australia phone: (02) 9774 2155
Thanks, I'll give them both a look. The 2KR throttle cables seem to be the same length so I'm going to pursue that instead. Yamaha locally don't even have parts diagrams for the FZ250 so that's a pain, I can't even look up part numbers (my manual doesn't have them either which is a double disappointment). As for filing things down etc, I'm not sure with their design they would file down well. They're not hunks of aluminium/lead like the OEM ones are. The bigger problem is diameter rather than length, they're either too small or way too large. The way the cable goes through the middle with the stopping mechanism (to hold the end of the cable in) would probably be ground away if I tried to take them down to fit. Hard to explain, but I don't think it can be done with what I've got.
Don't be so negative, lol. You could alway's solder the new end on after filing it down, maybe even use a grub screw to hold it firm then solder Will need an LPG torch, solder and some soldering flux if you want to try it out What if you heat up the original cable end and pull the cable out of the lead, then solder it onto the new cable ? Don't over heat the lead end, they turn to a puddle easy enough
Lol think of me as a "realist" rather than a "pessimist" in this particular circumstance I've tried everything, I heated it over the gas stove before and I found there's no soft spot it goes straight from hard to puddle in nanoseconds! But am certainly open to new ideas. An LPG torch and silver based solder I don't have and I'm reluctant to invest just to experiment at the moment. I'd rather get my hands on a 2KR throttle cable, I have ordered one from China for like $10 but I'm not sure how good it's going to be.
You can do it with a $10 supercheap butane pencil torch and normal solder. Or even with a 60w soldering iron. I"ve fixed plenty of cables like that
Hi Joker.Have been snooping on Conwire.com web site. Click on there products and then go to throttle cables , they actually have nipples sizes listed with sizes etc . Might be of use to you when you make contact with them. Have been reading on another forum and it was mentioned that they do nice work , but i cannot confirm this.
Emailed Conwire.com this morning , already have had a reply.Pretty impressive , Joker , they replied with making throttle cables in either stainless or gal wire with Outer sheath is PVC coated black with nylon liner. Sounds like good people to deal with. Iv'e listed there details down for when i need them for my job.
