    It's the actual lining of the tank, rusted.

    I'm guessing that the bike sat, with fuel in it, in a shed doing nothing for a few years before I got it.

    Once the tank liner is done you should be fine.

    Not silly if your tank is good inside, but looking at the crap that came out if you don't do a liner you will still have the rust problem and will soon have pin hole leaks.

    $80 bucks and 2 hours of your time for peace of mind and bike reliability? Up to yourself but i know what i'd be doing.

    I tend to concur with Murdo....I had a similar issue with my previous bike (Suzuki bandit). My tank looked reasonable and semi clean so went ahead and had it painted, alas shortly thereafter pin holes and fuel leakage occurred which did no favours to my new paint job. Had the tank liner kit and no further issues, your call of course but something to ponder.

    Ok Kreem kit is bought (only one I could get without waiting for delivery)

    Trying to take the fuel tank off.

    Manual says the rear wheel and swing arm have to come off?!

    Anyone done this?

    So far $120 and 4 hours going hard ( 2 people)

    And we've only just gotten the tank out!

    With the wheel on you can't get the fuel tank out as it is perched above the rear wheel....it's an Across :thumb_ups:

    We basically ended up pulling the whole thing apart. Shock out, swing arm. Hope we can get it back together
