So I got the speedo back today . Pulled apart, wound back and the glass cleaned. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Still have the original speedo just incase the gauges I put in the bike now are in alot better condition . Needles aren't yellowed and the odometer isn't either Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Very nice... who did that for you? I wouldnt mind getting the SRX speedo done and wound back to zero as well...

I thought it was considered illegal to change an odometer, swapping one out is permissible, even replacing with a new one is ok, but (one of those strange laws) you weren't allowed to change an existing odometer? Or is zeroing another permissible option?
If you have had it repaired and it is part of a restoration I cant see why zeroing it would be an issue. Winding a speedo back to misrepresent the true mileage and condition of a vehicle of any kind would be seen as fraud. Having this done is the same as fitting a new aftermarket speedo that is at Zero km. There is no misrepresentation at that stage.
So went and bought some A model parts today and the guy asked me If I wanted the engine aswell . So for 100 bucks it's all mine .
Just had a quick browse through the boxes and it looks like it has everything I need for my bike. Also spotted this! Looks like a b model shock to me but I could be wrong
How the hell did you get that speedo apart? I've tried to pull an A model apart before & ended up destroying it lol. How could anyone ever prove it was wound back?
Great difficulty. The outer ring needs to be worked off without mangling it too badly . Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Well I can confirm it is a B model shock. Adjuster is exactly like it says in the workshop manual Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
So this happened. Started with this mess. Brief history was that he had a bad accident and wrote off his A model so the bike was completely stripped . Engine is a weird hybrid . C model engine with C carburettors but A jets and n76x jet needles? Sparkplugs look brand new and were a nice colour. Sprocket is new and the oil filter and oil also looked new . Engine is very nice under the valve cover with no evidence of the timing chain rubbing on it (unlike my other engine) Timing chain tensioner is also only halfway through its travel (old engine was past the end of its travel) After a heavy degrease it came out like this Pulled the carbs apart . Looks very clean but noticed it had a bent jet needle and the needle seats look like they were removed with pliers. Missing screws and needs all new o-rings and t pieces. Also pilot screws were only 1 1/4 out??? Set them back to factory spec. Just put an order through with Litetek Carbs back on. Hooked up all the electrics. Had to use my ignition switch, starter motor and starter solenoid . Put its exhaust on too after straightening half the exhaust studs . Fired up straight away ( wasn't the 1st start) bit smokey from being tossed up and down 100 times from me washing it but it cleared right up and idles straight away with no adjustment. What a win for 50 bucks! So the plan is it'll go in my bike for now till I accumulate all the parts needed to rebuild my engine Sodablasted the exterior of the engine to clean it up a bit better. Came out alot better than before and removed the paint from the waterpump so now it looks like an A engine too. Need the clutch cover replaced because of the damage from the accident . Also needs the stator cover repaired and painted . Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Giant tarp on the ground. Then blasted with one of these . Once finished I filter it out and put it back in .
Haha... the only time I tried Soda Blasting outside once... everything around turned white (including me) and it killed the grass all around it.. Seems like it works nicely for you with that unit.. I guess it is Air driven.. what size compressor do you use? Great job on the bike so far too.. lots of pics is always good.
Yeah it hooked up to the air compressor . Its a 30 year old 2 piston unit . Unsure of its exact spec Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Soo after buying a set of wheels I have noticed that the a1 and a2 are different . Green is the 89 A1 and the polished/white is the 90 A2 Not sure what the groove is for but they got rid of it on the a1 And the most obvious difference is the way the wheel is machined. The a2 is machined further in than the a1 . Maybe to make the wheel look wider? Or to reduce weight? Also got a front gaurd in much better condition than mine. Just tried it on to see what green might look like ....yeah not a fan... Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
