So my battery has been getting sluggish over the past 2 weeks, as its getting colder and refuses to crank more than twice on cold mornings. (Cause you know, Fizzers dont fire first time on cold mornings) Resulting in a roll start. And I immediately thought acid level. So finally got some time today and bought a hydrometer. Checked every cell, and Number 6 has dropped. Just like the last battery. Bugger I bought it around this time last year. Supercheap had 20% off and I bought it then. So I wandered into my filing cabinet and pulled out the warranty card, and Receipt. "This battery is warranted for 12 (Twelve) Months from the date of purchase." "Date of purchase 20 April" Double Bugger! So I'm wondering what battery I can put in to replace on little cherry? Dont say Motobatt. I've heard some horror stories on them. And some bike shops have started to switch over to other brands because of said horror stories. So what am I looking for? Any Recommendations?
Yuasa? I normally just go into battery world and they have a couple of choices. I did hear good things about lithium ion batteries, some kind of emerging market but you pay $ for them. And if you're having trouble in QLD it explains why my fizzer is struggling with the Victorian mornings on a hit and miss basis (sigh)
Yep, thats why. It has been pretty good since the carby rebuild. But it desperately needs a go overand re-tune with the vacuum guages. Reset pilots etc. I find that turning the tap off, and near on running out of fuel shortens the process. Almost no fuel = Almost no flooding. Yuasa did come up on a quick scrounge around.
Motobatt. I had one sitting in the zxr for 4 months not used. And cranked for like 3minutes until she fired.
Haha didn't read where you said don't say motobatt. I have them in both my bikes no dramas. Can you let me know said horror stories? Ssb power sports are meant to be allright
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?26095-WARNING-Motobatt-batteries-are-****. I remember GI mentioning that stores are starting to stock other brands a year ago. I'm guessing this is why. This is one of the threads I've read
all i can say is 4 registered bikes all have motobatts and next bike will have one.buy a calcium chloride agm battery and you will be right.
Well one of mine is 2 years old and the other is 12 months no problems. If you look hard enough you can find bad press on most things.
The one in it now was orginally 80 odd dollars. But with a 20% sale it was 63. Where do I get such batteries??
My original SSB AGM is now powering the Grasshopper FZR and I bought another the other week for mine (and theres one in the Hyo) http://www.ssbpowersport.com.au/Products.aspx?btype=roadbike $79.50 at a local bike shop
Had a couple of Motobatts fail, but were replaced without argument by the shop, and have four others that are still going strong. Have ssb in the 650 (single cylinder needs a bit of grunt to turn over) with no problems.
Yeah, SSB battery is really good... I can now get the Motobatts if you or anyone wants them at a good price...... (through Andy's Bike Bits)....
I've converted to Lithium batteries on all my bikes. They weigh stuff all. They don't need to be trickle charged unless you don't use the bike for at least 6 months. They have higher CCA than lead-acids. Win win win, just costs a bit more. http://www.hollyhockbatteries.com.au/ If you're into dirtbikes then sign up at www.dirtbikeworld.net and PM a user called 'walks' he runs the above shop and provides a discount (free postage usually) to us DBWers.
His page has the standard sizes for the battery and shows the equivalent SSB model. ie. the CBR250 needs a YTX7L-BS so you go to here: http://www.hollyhockbatteries.com.au/Lithium_Motorcycle_Batteries.html then search for YTX7L-BS then choose which one you want eg. http://www.hollyhockbatteries.com.au/LFPZ7_S.html (His discount for forum members is usually just free postage, no further discount on the battery cost)
