Motobatts in all of mine too. SSB in Dominator as could not get Motobatt at the time I needed it.
There have been some problems with some Motobatts, and I had one dud one too, but like any mass produced item there will sometimes be a defective item slip through the inspection process.
There is a video somewhere on Utube about an American bloke who spent a year testing all types of bike batteries. He left them out in the cold, hot, dead flat and recharged and the winner was the Motobatt which he used to start a V10 Dodge Ram (8.7Lt I think) 23 times before the Motobatt bike battery died. Not a bad effort for a battery designed to crank a 250cc.

The only reason (as I have posted before) that I went SSB when buying for the Fizzer a couple of years ago is when I went to get a Motobatt a couple of the bike shops/dealers had taken them off the shelves and were selling SSBs.
The reason being the Australian distributor wasnt honoring warranty claims (or something along those lines) ..... which Im sure wouldnt be a problem now ..... and certainly doesnt deride the quality of the battery itself,

I think its a good thing we have at least 2 quality AGMs to choose from.

That original SSB I bought is still going strong in the flying grasshopper ..... and we all know wat a bastard those bikes are to start most times.

Speaking of batteries, Saturday I was at the local Kawasaki dealership trying to buy some bits for my bike. Whilst exiting there was a couple outside with the seat off a Honda ST1300. Spoke to them for a bit.....his battery had died and was fitting a new one. He purchased the bike new in 2008 and his battery lasted 7 years......you gotta be happy with that, was a Yuasa.
Asked him about his bike.....he loved it and liked that it carried 29L of fuel, some decent riding range.
Bike was in amazing condition......thought of you Murdo!

Thanks Phil. The Motobatt that was in my ST1100 was seven year old when I had to replace it (with another Motobatt). Won't be buying another ST (as much as I like them) as they are just too heavy for me anymore. There is a blue ST1300 at a local dealer that people keep telling me about but I wont go and have a look in case I am tempted.
Dominator does all I want now (even towing a trailer).
