Opinions please. Love the 250GSXF as my daily ride, but looking at the following bikes as the joy ride lol:

    GSX 600 F Katana 1999

    Wheelbase: 1 470 mm (57,9 in)
Dry Weight: 202 kg (445,3 lbs)
    Engine type: Air/oil-cooled 599 cc inline-4, DOHC, 16 valves. 86 hp (62,8 Nm)/ 10,500 rpm, 58 Nm (5,9 kg-m)/ 9,500 rpm.

    OR

    GSX-R 600 1999
    Overall Length: 2 065 mm (81.3 in)
Overall Width: 720 mm (28.3 in)
Seat Height: 830 mm (32.7 in)
    Wheelbase: 1 390 mm (54.7 in)
Ground Clearance: 130 mm (5.1 in)
Dry Weight: 174 kg (383 lbs)
    Engine type: Water-cooled 600 cc inline-4, DOHC, 16 valves. 110 hp (80,9 kW)/ 11.800 rpm, 67,6 Nm / 10,000 rpm.

I rode both last week, and they both have their pluses and minuses. the extra HP would be handy... but when your a short arse like me, 5 cm is a big difference.

The only way to choose is to ride them and see what you think

Too true, Yeah rode both, I love the fixer but have always had a soft spot for the katana.

Will budget about 4k and see what's available when I get there...

But will ride plenty in the coming weeks lol

    Hey Darren
Great choice in bikes, the 30 extra HP and the 28KG weight difference must be taken into consideration.
From my experience jumping off the CBR1100 to the GSF400 was huge, weight went down by 65KG and the HP
went from 160 to 59, felt so much easier to handle but do miss the power.
Sure you will make the right decision when time arrives. As per usual, photo are essential.:thumb_ups:

Thanks Phil, i appreciate the feedback.

The gixxer is only 10kgs heavier than the across, but is 5cm taller... But the power, wow. I really noticed the weight with the katana, but I liked the handling better. Oh the struggle with choice lol

As I said pluses and minuses, but both were so much fun to ride!

as for the ride height cant you alter the dogbone

that's true Noah, great point on the dogbone.

Need to ride more to really gauge the comfort level - possibly the katana is easier, but the gixxer would have better resale.

    Hmmm

darren, you are buying a weekend "fun" bike.... go the gixxer, it's designed for fun ;) and you can just slip on some high heels if height is an issue :p :prankster:

    - or, as an alternate, practice you're very own Fabrication skills and build a turbo manifold for the across and be a boss :)

Easy enough to lower a bike. I have been looking into it myself, so don't let seat height be a determining factor.

Completely from left field but what about a CBR600 F4i? Great all round bike. Pretty comfortable too.

Looks nice! I reckon you could offer them 1000$ cash and they would take it. Hasn't been ridden for a while.

definately Brendan ..... I think its a flash looking unit .... especially the gold frame as original ..... dont like the muffler but with a bit of work it would be a real gem.
