I was reading in cycle torque that a poly from Taree NSW wants to have these wire barriers banned as they are unsafe for motorcyclist ( A reaction after a motorcyclist lost a leg after hitting one in his electorate ) which is what we have been saying all along. But my local council has recently decided that they are so good ( Cheap? ) they have been putting them up on some so called black spots. Problem is that to make them fit they have made a perfect corner on one side the side they haven't changed and a complete stuff up on the other side as the corner is no longer a easy bend but two hard to take incorrectly cambered turns that will no doubt cause more accidents than it will fix. It was in place foe 2 to 3 days and the needed replacement after being hit. I went past this spot the other day and they are putting Moore on the inside edge before the corner. I have no Idea what they expect to stop with this one and there is road work on another corner going to Nelson Bay that looks like it will be more wire rope to contend with. Funny thing is I have never heard of a crash taking place on that corner.

When will they come to there sensors and if they must put a barricade in the middle of the road make it something safe for all road users not just cars and maybe trucks?

We should all be writing to this poly who wants them banned saying that we support him on this.
