G'day Gents, Rebuilt the X7, new crankshaft oil seals and main bearings, crankshaft trued up. One cracked piston, so new pair put in. Carburetors rebuilt with new gasket/needle/jet kits. No start, found a poor joint on the Low Speed exciter coil. Been resoldered and sparks appearing (also ordered new coils just in case - good to have some spares for an older Jap bike!). Still no start - so I need to check if there is too much (or too little) fuel getting into engine. My problem lies in getting the carbs in and out. Is there a recommended way of getting these things in and out of the rubbers to the barrels and to the air filter (the bike is standard). My hands are a lot bigger than the Japanese mechanics, and I do not want to ruin or split the rubber mountings. Anyone have an easy and fool proof method for removing and refitting carbs? Thanks, Arthur
This wont help much with access but I find with getting the inline 4 bank of carbs in and out is easier if the the boots have a bit of this applied around the inside surface
