Has anyone bought off Yahoo auctions in Japan ? I cant read Japanese and from what I can tell, most sellers wont ship overseas.

I have been looking for some manuals and parts which show up on Yahoo auctions all the time, so I decided to try out Jauce.com as a buying agent. I have transferred some cash and have put a bid on workshop manual, hopefully it all works out : )

I used Shopping Mall Japan and it worked out ok. There are a bunch of buying agents now so hopefully that will keep their fees down. Handy for us grey bike owners.

well, I won my Auction for a GSXR250 GJ73a manual for 300 yen which is about $3.60 AUD , but I am paying a fair bit in fees. So far I am at $20.60 and its not yet shipped to me, although half of that was Jauce's fee .

But at least now I have one, anyone speak Japanese who can help me translate the specs pages ?

@joker 's wife but you will have to make an offer that cannot be refused. I got my genuine 400 manual from Japan the same way, and the Fizzer sprocket for the 3LN3+.

Send it to me Chris, I'll take care of it for you. I've got part of the manual already, I think Simon has one he started scanning too.

And usually you can match with a similar Suzuki manual in English to help with the titles for the rows and columns.

I have used Rinkya. The fees is kinda annoying, and the price isn't concrete until they bill ya. But I bought a swing arm. I plan to get some PGMs, MC28 dash and MC28 wiring loom when I get some spare cash. It's kinda annoying to sort through the ads though.

So is this little Suzuki a keeper Chris? Buying a manual seems like it could be.

Just an idea copy and upload the manual page by page and use google translate or another branded free translator and translate page by page, either that or check to see if there is any freeware downloadable translators.

When you copy a manual you create an image not text. You need to use OCR software to convert the character to text and then translate it. Very tedious. Joker's wife is Japanese and can do 1000% better than the alternative.

My bad I initially thought about upload as pdf but typed halfway the conversation taking place within the voices in my head, and no doubt someone who knows the language would always be alot better then the translator of sorts.....never know if the person who designed the translator had the correct info in the first place hey :)

Well this might be encouraging? I write an email to WEBIKE japan through their Ebay store basically shaming them about there selling manuals that appear to be in English, but that only post a very small warning at the very bottom of the page that manuals are in Japanese. I also told they how dishonorable there policy of non-refunds was since we received there manuals in Japanese and are stuck with them!!! They replied that they be making an effort to provide better warnings for foreign languages and that they are looking into having english manuals. However I have found a google translate program that if you take a picture of the page it will translate it for you. I am looking at translating the whole manual and posting it.

so this slow and cumbersome process is almost complete, my item has shipped from the seller and arrived at the Jauce warehouse. I was politely told that I don't have enough money to pay for shipping to Australia so I have transferred another 900 yen to facilitate the deal. After buying my manual for $3.60 , I have now spent almost $36 to finalise it all.

I think a better options would be to buy a few items and bundle them up to make it worthwhile.

Still , I am getting my own manual :thumb_ups:

Yeah, we should do a 3 monthly purchase of Japan-only items. I've used Rinkya before but Jauce is just as cumbersome and annoying (I got the same thing about needing more money for shipping which is BS I think when I used it). Anyway, I am thinking of purchasing a complete set of MC28 electrics in the future for complete my fake MC28, as well as a rear wheel/swing arm assembly. Can't put a date on it though.

I bought one of the Webike manuals and they are junk. A poor quality copy on junk paper. My next manual I bought 2nd hand genuine off Yahoo Japan. Got a parts book with it too.

Ok next time guys, if you're interested - please hit me up. We could get it shipped to my wife's parents place (I've also got a few Japanese friends we may be able to get to help in the Tokyo area) and I'll get them to send it over. Won't cost as much (noting postage in Japan is pretty expensive anyway, especially internationally), certainly without the mucking around at least.

Small things though, let's not trouble them too much ;)

Well, that's awesome. It's almost cheaper to fly over there, pick up the items, and fly home compared to the cost of shipping. At least you get 2 plane rides and a trip through Tokyo!
