    My mate dropped my latest version of the Caliper Bracket around earlier... V6 I think on the design itterations :)
    Well I had to slip it on to see how well I have done and I have to say... I am pretty happy with how it has turned out.
    Now to find a local company who will do a 1 off... or contact my old machinist in Sydney to get one done in Alloy.

    I talked to my machinist and sent him the stp file (his choice of file format) so he can look at it and decide if he does it on the CNC or manual mill.
    Today started putting dome bobbins on the SRX to make it easier to use the paddock stand. They warked out ok and it is definietely easier than the flats.

    I am going to need to do some touch ups on that swing arm...lol

    The rest of the day was sanding, sanding, primer, primer, primer then base coat... That went fine for the front guard and the belly pan..

    That is straight off the spray can... no clear on yet.

    I then started on the rear fairing sides... sanded the original paint and it all looked good... 2 coats of primer and then I got a fry-up... just s smalll section, so sand it back again... cleaned, tack ragged and primed... the fry up moved further out... follwow ing the feather line of the old paint... but 2 layers in. Maybe it wasnt original as there are 6 layers of paint.
    Try again... sand further this time... light coat of primer.. dried quickly with air.. no reaction, another light coat and dried again... still no reaction. Final light coat and GRRRRRRRRR fried up along the feather line...
    Tomorrow will be paint stipping day. I am taking it back to plastic, both sides.... how annoying.

    The joys of sanding back old paint...
    I found a nice crack in this panel.. so now I need to add some small metal pieces at the back, melted into the plastic to keep it stable... then plastic weld the crack, then fill then sand and prime... lots of fun :)

    This is the underneath of the tank... I might leave the underside black.... then again I might put on the 3 layers of Candy basecoat and then clear it just as I am with the top..... hmmmmmm

    Yep...that is why there is a lot of Orange Peel in the clear on the black... bubt black shows it up more than most colours anyway.
    I had to keep it all in the garage today as it was too windy to set up my fold up Paint Shelter (more like half an igloo). Hopefully when I do the top half of the tank and the rest of the rear fairing the weather will be kinder... and warmer would be nice too.

    I did a bit more on the SRX on the weekend... repaired the lhs rear fairing and platic primed it... then undercoat... and it still fried up in a couple of small spots... GRRRRRRRR
    I maybe need to sand it all back again... plastic prime it then seal it and then primer filler... hmmm time to talk to the paint people.
    On a better note... I got some colour on the underside of the tank and started with a light coat of pure black base on the tank.. this paint dries so nice and flat and that just showed up a few imperfections I had missed.. so more filling, sanding, priming etc on the weekend. At least I am making some progress.

    Dont you hate it when you think you have your project all sorted in terms of specification and you buy all the right bits... then along comes someone with a change that you think would be OH SO NICE to have.....lol
    Well that happend today when I glanced at FB and in the SRX forum a guy from the UK posts up this picture of his SRX25 3WP.... can anyone guess what I am now pondering??? No it has nothing to do with colour either :)

    Some are against them, however I'm a sucker for USD forks, they just look more robust, changes the look of that bike enormously

    I messaged him not long after he posted a picture of his bike , but still no reply , but that's normal on the SRX Facebook forum.
    It's very annoying , owner's reach out for help / advise and some never hear back from them.
    This Forum is the opposite , member's will reply.

    Meh... no great loss, it will save me money if he doesnt reply lol
    I have gone through enough iterations of front ends to be back with the stock forks so full circle... almost.
    I guess I will now concentrate on finishing the shed setup then sorting both the SRX and the SL125.... maybe once the SRX is finished I might consider a change to USD front end... but based on past history... that is a Loooong way off. :)

    That's understandable , at'least the stock front end will pass the blue slip your way.
    I'd like to make my stock suspension work a lot better , but that would need the front end sending away and replacing the rear mono shock , either way $ would be needed.
    I simply don't ride it enough to warrant the cost's.

    So, Old mate in the UK has now posted and it turns out the front end is from an Aprillia RS125 (must have a look at that) and he has an FZR250 rear wheel on it (as do I on mine). I might investigate the Aprillia route... but that would be after it is finished.

    @2valve you should investigate the use of the 3WP swing arm and shock linkage and then you can use an FZR250 rear shock plus the FZR250 rear wheel with rear disc... it is all do-able and probably cheaper over the long run than spending big $$ on a fancy rear shock.

    From memory from my research the Aprilia 125 triple clamp fork spacing is ~180mm, I think the triple clamp offset is ~40mm - vague recollection, obviously only single sided caliper which suits your purpose.
    Not sure on the caliper bolt spacing, didn't get that far IIRC

    They're not expensive forks

    They are these days.... at least on Flebay they are... $950 for a set but they are late model ones with radial caliper.
    Looks like the early ones use a Brembo 40mm spcing caliper which is fine... 320mm disc, do-able and then there are the yokes... again, not cheap. About $250 for both... then having to sort out if the front wheel will fit etc etc...
    Hmmm not right now... but never say never :)

    WOW, perhaps the cafe racer and USD conversion has pushed the prices up, a few years ago when I was looking a pair of forks and triple clamp on gumtree would set you back about $250-300

    The 2 stroke RS125 forks are very basic, perhaps the RS4 125 forks are higher spec commanding higher prices

    Sorry for the very late reply.
    I'd like to keep the bike pretty well factory supplied if all possible , well , within reason on part's availability that is.
    The thought of having far superior suspension would be bonus , at the moment , the bike has a firm ride , well , it has some fat guy riding it though , so the front and the rear shock's where set up for the weight.

    There are three different aftermarket shock's that i've found so far , pricey for my little bike but wow are they sexy looking , but they are bolt in unit.
    I really should have looked into a better rear shock when the bike was getting rebuilt , but the main thing i was after was getting the bike back to original as such and getting it on the road.
    I should ring the suspension guy that rebuilt my rear shock and ask him , just in case he has something sitting out the back that could work , or simply bite the bullet and purchase a aftermarket shock , yea right , dream on :lolsign:.
