i need a new number 3 carb as the bit where the pilot jet goes has a little bit snapped off and i need 4 new of the needle seats so thought it would be just easier to get a whole set for parts

Upload a pic of the damage and exactly which one. I have 2 spare sets of carbs with housing damage on a carb in each. But might have a housing you can have.

If the thread is still ok I wouldn't be worried about that.

Murdo knows carbs, that should not* affect it if you can still screw the jet in.

Ben ..... you need to put away the big hammer and chisel

Alloy and brass need to be treated with a softly softly approach
Sure we have all butchered a jet or 2 but u must try and use a driver that fits the groove .... jets are pretty soft brass
Theres various methods to removing something that is stuck .....brute force is a last resort on carbys.

Where that alloy casing has broken off , as Murdo says , as long as the thread is ok ...but I would smooth off the edges as it looks like there are bits still about to come off.

Also have a look here about those screws with the little dimple in them ....
