My zzr 250's gearbox is stuck in neutral.

Went to clutch start it, as it wont fire, it does turn. Fully charged battery, new fuel and plugs.

The bike is in neutral, dont understand what is happening with it now. Can't get it out of neutral into other gears.

It spends more time off the road then on it

    Try this

Your setup should be similar to this

Check the position at the blue arrow of the gear change assembly on the splines of the gearbox shaft as it will affect the ability of the lever to engage gears

When that is correct then the height of the the actual lever can be adjusted up or down to suit your foot position preference by loosening nuts at the red and turning the rod with your fingers at green ..... make sure u dont turn out too much thread at either end and 1 nut is a reverse thread

If your lever is correct and not fouling on anything could be the shift drum. I just had the same thing happen on my RD250LC because there was play in the shift drum bearing meaning that I could only select one gear.

Take a look at your clutch cable and adjustment. Has happened to a mate before and the cable had broken heh

The clutch cable is new, replaced due the old cable snapping,

Re adjusted the cable both ways but still only have 1st and neutral.

But on a positive i have got the engine running again.

Just need to sort out the gear issue, then i can take it out for a run

Bike started 1st press of the button, so that's a positive.

But can't ride it, still has upshift issues, won't into 2nd and higher.

I took the bike around the block.

I now get all gears. Rode up the steep hill back home in 2nd gear at 1500rpm

    Something's not right at all

when you look at the clutch lever in the perch on your LH bar, how much free play is there in the cable. , ie can you move the lever 1-2mm without having to actually pull it, ir we are looking for free play in the cable.
