Hey I recently bought a zzr 250 from a friend, The only problem is he ripped off the starter solenoid to try it in another bike. That being said the plug is totalled and I don't understand wiring diagrams.

If someone could post a picture of their wiring that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey mate

Perhaps you can post up some photos and we will be better able to help. Wiring diagrams aren't that hard to read/learn you pretty much read the colours on the wires and then trace them to see where they connect to.

If I knew what wire colours you have I can try and match it to the right part of the diagram. If your mate "ripped it out" there may be cut off wires somewhere to reattach to, just gotta find the same colours.

I think with starter solenoids you have an earth, a wire to the starter motor and a wire to the positive terminal on the battery. Or something similar.

Hey Joker thanks for the reply. Here are the wires that were that were hanging around the same area as the solenoid.
I had to trim them back as they were pretty bad.

So if I am correct you have a black/yellow, yellow/red and a white wires?

If you look at the wiring diagram I posted above, that matches:

    upload_2016-2-11_16-29-37.png
One of the black wires will go on the top terminal to the starter motor (trace it) and the other one I suspect goes to the positive terminal on the battery. The thing is marked "M" and "B" so you know the "M" goes to the starter motor and the "B" to battery. So that sorts those out.

The white one goes to the corresponding white one on the regulator/rectifier, which is connected to that 30A fuse. There isn't a fuse there so grab one and plug it in first. The other two terminals I can't really tell from the photos but I would almost take a guess and try them on each pin and see what happens. Worst thing is you blow the fuse or something, or the starter motor won't turn over.

You're missing the plug so you may need to source a replacement otherwise soldering could get a bit messy. Try going to Jcar or something and pick up a couple of alligator clips (small ones) so you can hold the wires on each terminals to test.

    Hope that helps :)

As Joker said, but one wire will go to earth somewhere and the other will go back into the harness to the button on the handlebar. The white will be the wire bringing charging power to the main terminal going to the battery through the fuse.

Thanks for the reply's, I'll have to source some wire and plugs over the next few days and test it.

I'll let everyone know how it goes.
