Yea I bought the goggles way back when I thought I was 'close' to riding the Triumph. A challenge .... no fun if theres no challenge! ..... and I have been to your place remember .... the odd 'challenge' lying around under covers there And your offer of help is gladly accepted .... the finer points of motor internals are not my forte! ...... so your advice along the way may be required
Front wheel came up reasonably well .... back looks like it will be even better after the once over. Now that I wont be wheel painting and they have gold inners I will stick to a gold/black theme with the bike.... and of course the unavoidable chrome bits. Tyres are very old but will be the last thing on the list. Probably go something old school like this .....
What? You wanted tractor shocks, now you want to put on tractor tyres. Wouldn't a pair of Dunlop K81's be the go?
Well it will probably go as quick as a tractor Yea I was looking for those also after seeing them somewhere online but I couldnt remember what they were called Pretty cheap too ... http://www.motorcyclesuperstore.com...p-tyres/3747-dunlop-k81/tt100-410h18-dp2.html http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370573981396
Them's the ones. Those other tyres are for 1920's Hardleys, and those stupid 'Bobber' things (neither of which will go around corners very fast).
Progress report ... Is that fork oil or forkin sauce? Stator cover ..... a couple of little dings to fill Also scored these off ebay ... $50 (including shipping) Gotta love shiny new parts
Got the same ones for my X7, bloody good price for rear shocks. Bet the front fork oil was on the nose.
Strangely it had practically no smell at all ..... alot spilt on to the concrete but in about an hour it had "evaporated" away .....
Heres the other interesting thing re the forks... motor oil and ATF mix?? There is supposed to be 18 ball bearings per cone in the head ...... and of course there is only 17 in each
Yea could be a good move ..... PP has them http://www.pyramidparts.com.au/prod...katana-1985-steering-head-bearings-kit?model=
Go with the tapered rollers. You will need to have stable steering if your going to go racing from pub to pub with your clip on's and black helmet with goggles.
Anyone tell me what the ..... is this and what it does? .... I cant find any reference to it in the manual or the parts listing.
The idea was or is that under compression the oil would flow into a small opening within the valve and compress, it created energy and heat. The reason that they mounted them on the front of the fork was to cool the oil down some, not certain how effective that was, from memory the body was finned for that reason.
