Hi guys, Finally rebuilding the Zeals carbies and had to butcher some screw due to their tightness. And in the porocess warped the rod that run the butterfly valve. Team moto are trying to tell me the 98-00 models had completely different carbies to the 91-92 imports, can anyone verify this? Also does anyone have suggestion on where to obtain this part? Its warped to the point that when youve got it in you can barely swivel it. Many thanks Hive View attachment TU250X Owners Manual small[1].pdf
No they used the 25s on the Zeals. I have wondered about useing the FZX250 carbies and wether theyd work on a Zeal.
26s are wat are on the FZR 2KR Looking at the Zeal carby parts schematic the rod and butterfly dont appear
If the shaft is not physically damaged then it is bent and/or twisted. Therefore, it should be possible to straighten it. There maybe some burrs or raised edges and those can be lightly sanded. I would suggest Fit a spacer and screws to strengthen the fragile section while this work is done. Use a V block and dial gauge to straighten the shaft Test the shaft in the carb body as you proceed. Do not force the part. Use the shaft from the other carbs to compare for twist A toolmaker/engineering shop should be able to do this for you for a very reasonable cost. I think I need to add a section on removing the shafts to my guide.
Ok, I added this paragraph to my guide at http://www.litetek.co/Guide_MikuniBDST_Rebuild.html Removal of the throttle shafts needs to be done with great care. Because they have a long slot to hold the butterfly, they can be easily twisted or bent. Do not use the butterfly as a stop when loosening the nuts on the end of the shaft. If the butterfly screws are tight, usually because they have been staked, then first, seal the carburettor to ensure that no grit can fall into the throat, and use a Dremel or similar tool to grind away the staked section of the screw. Once the screws are removed the butterfly can be very carefully removed. Trying to force it out can damage the butterfly and the carburettor throat.
Fair enough no idea why i thought they were different carbies for. We barely if if the screw driver removing the screws which is why we're confused how it bent we hit the other one harder and didnt even bend at all. Just waiting to get a spare chance to get over to the old mans and use tools and vices. But your right it ahould hopefully bend back into shape.
