Starting to look like a motorsickle again ..... rear wheel definately needs to be white Nice shiny new brake lever
Mechanics who work on my bike have started soda blasting and man does it look good reckon those calipers would look brand new just a sand blaster with bi carb soda
Some fine workmanship ..... again How many litres for a standard oil change on an FZR250? ...... 2 How many litres in this bike ? ..... 3 Colour ... black Consistency .... water Oil filter ..... I think they used Loctite ......
Any fuel in the oil? Could try the old screwdriver thru the filter job. But you'll be up the **** if you still can't get it off.
Well lets see... I have 2, Grasshopper has 2, Grey has 1 complete and at least another 2 and a half in spares sitting there... I think @Robbo has one.
Sounds very familiar....had the same issue with the zzr. Final tally was 5.2L which meant I had 1.5L of fuel on top of the 3.7L of oil? Having drained the lot, found the following week I had 3.7L of oil left as the fuel evaporated completely. Having fixed the leak I find myself watching closely the oil level on the engine casing, no wish to go there again.
Good call @Th3_Huntsman ..... I left the oil tray under the bike over night and it has like 50mls of fuel in it You can actually see the fuel dripping from the sump plug Explains why we ran out of fuel very quickly on a little road test yesterday Carbys off again ... who would have thought ?
Indeed...who would have thought? My observation of the oil/fuel flow was a tad disconcerting as the flow was very rapid as compared to just oil. Once the seat O-rings were replaced, flooding ceased altogether. Once I can ride again (no time soon ) I hope to find a massive improvement in my fuel economy. Anyhow...good luck with the carbs????? are we having fun yet
Well I had cleaned and polished the main fairings ready to go on ...... I need to up my meds I think Wishful thinking that these carbs looked so schmick that we thought they would be good to go So @Phil u just replaced the float o rings ? .... think Ill do the float needles as well
I replaced the needles as the seats looked to be OK, however the O-ring on the seats were failing badly, replaced them and problem solved. Since doing this flooding is gone, oil level in sump has remained constant and the bike starts perfectly now. Living the dream....just wish I could ride
Managed to get the oil filter off the normal way .... looks like they put it on with a jackhammer A little too much fuel in #1 After removing the plugs I pushed it forward in gear to turn the motor and expel the excess So carbys to the bench and also the fuel tap wasnt shutting off the fuel on 'off' .... ! #1 plug was as dry as a bone ..... and I recall #1 header wasnt getting all that hot .... interesting
That's the exact issue I had here but with cylinder 4. Full to the top of the boot with fuel. Lifted up the carbs and held them at the angle that they'd sit if on the engine... number 4 dripping fuel. Opened the bowls, all were full. I pushed each float and they let off a little "click" noise. Bowls back on and held the carbs at the same angle. No drops. Going to set the idle screws to 3 and a quarter turns and see how it goes on the 3LN7 engine Have a spare working fuel tap here with new seals (older type) if you want it.
Well spotted Mr Green ..... a cleaned up spare on the left .... leaker on the right ..... someone has hacked at it ... and who would know why. ..... anyway 1 problem solved
It could be that some lunatic used a highly caustic solution in an attempt to remove rust from the tank?
