You should put the photos of the 3LN6 carbs in here Linkin. It would be very useful for any other owners. Maybe rename the thread to Linkin's 3LN6 would be a good idea too. Did you guys start this bike with those carburettors full of green crystals?
Yes, Grey and I started those carbs and rode the bike believe it or not.... just up the street and back.... took a while to start, but it did go...
And the pic of the very unique needle setup. Also the same on the Zeal & I assume the Seca II Diversion Non-USA Model. That bike is fitted with basically the same carbs as the Zeal but bigger.
'A' carb kits for 3LN6-7 due in 7 days. Full kits due in 19 days. Watch this space http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Yamaha_FZR250_3LN6.html
Not the best nor cleanest carbs I've seen. Am certain Mr. Grey will have them looking good in no time.
I rode it briefly, it runs like it bloody well should! No stupid nonsense down low, it's smooth throughout the entire rev range. The revs are stable and don't fluctuate down low
While poking around I noticed that the Seca II Diversion carbs are the same size as the 250, 28mm. So if you are really keen you could get a set of those carbs and use the jets and needles from your 250. The only concern would be if the the slide cutaway on the 250 was less than the 600 versions. Then you would have the advanced needle locating design of these later carbs and the long life that would come with it. Like these I guess this is the wrong place to put this piece of useful information since Linkin already has the best model carbs. @GreyImport Mr Grey can you move this post to somewhere useful. cheers Blair
@maelstrom Have submitted an order for 2 front sprockets, and a set of cooling system o-rings for the yellow peril. Just got to finish off the last bits of the other bike, and it's on to this one. Step 1 will be... you guessed it... pull the whole thing to bits (sans engine, had enough of that!)
Gathered some supplies today. Auto one and Supercheap don't have any 1" OD radiator hoses, only 3/4" which is useless for the fizzer. Will need to find a supplier of 1" OD radiator hose. Now have 6mm and 8mm fuel hose, some generic hose vacuum hose sorted out the short coolant overflow line on the other bike. Another Tridon TT239-180 thermostat from Bursons, cause auto one and supercheap don't have them. Degreaser was on special. 5 cans for 7 bucks.
Bit of action at the fizzer factory today. Wheel cleaning Front sprocket cover muck The headlight doesn't work... the plug on the light housing and wiring are different sizes. Based off the 3LN3/7, there's a missing cable from the headlight to the wiring loom. Cleaned up the swingarm and front sprocket area. It only took 3 cans of degreaser! We also started the bike, and it went first go. Quite surprisingly, it also starts easily when hot. I just set the idle circuit screws to 3 turns out, stuck the carbs on (no airbox) and gravity fed the carbs with some hose and an empty coolant bottle. Will need to check the cam chain tensioner but it sounds like the chain will need to be replaced. Coolant overflow bottle is split open and missing the cap, so have to replace that. Rear disc is also stuffed. Have got the wheels off to take to the bike ship for a new rear tyre, swap the front one for the sport demon on the spare wheels, and new tyre valve stems
Work continues... replaced the thermostat and most of the coolant hoses. They really could have done a better design and not required so many bent hoses and different sized outlets. Wirewheel cleaned up the thermo housing nicely. Left hand side radiator bolt will need to be drilled out as it's been cross threaded. Silicone hose in place. Tempted to chop off the pipe halfway down and just use hose, because it's a royal pain to get such a short hose into place without removing the thermostat housing, which is an annoying task itself. New fuel hoses and filter. Doubt the fuel pump will arrive any time soon though. Need to get another rubber bracket for it, too. Hmm... What was here before? No deltabox stickers on this frame, so I cleaned it up with purple metal polish and but some bling on @maelstrom - Here's a shot of that sprocket. I'm not sure which way it's supposed to go, but to me it appears correctly centred with the raised edge on the inside - facing the driveshaft. Here it is with the raised edge facing the sprocket cover
