Hi everyone. New member/learner rider here from Sydney. What does anyone think of the nsr150 2001 model as a first road bike? any advice or feedback welcome
Welcome buddy A two stroke is an interesting ride and are great fun depends what you want out of your learning experience
Cheers mate. Yeah shpuld be fun haha I like 2 strokes I've got a guy bringing one around now. I've looked into alot of bikes and what ones to avoid etc Huntsman do u know much about these bikes any good or bad points from what u know or other peoples reviews? Any nsr owners on here?
I have never owned or ridden one, being a two stroke you need to find out how long ago it had a top end rebuild. There a quite a few NSR250 ownes/former owners on here they may be able to point you in the right direction of things to watch out for.
I would go one, when i first wanted to ride in 07, that was gona be my first choice, but 5 years later my fisrt bike was an R15 which is a 4 stroke single 150. I reckon the NSR 150 would kill it.
How's it going tommy. I'm pretty keen to get it. Just a lot of delays getting it here tonight unfortunately
Hey Hot250, the NSR150 is a great little single cylinder 2 stroke, if its well tuned it will a fun little bike. 2 Strokes by there very nature need a bit more attention and generally don't return as good economy as 4 strokes if you get up them. Make sure you test ride it, if it doesn't feel right then walk away, try and ride a few different ones and see how you go. The other bugger with 2 bangers are that they run with a separate oil tank that mixes with the fuel, make sure you keep the oil topped up, because if you run out and run it on fuel only, they will seize up and that's when it gets expensive. If you get one, here is the place for performance parts - http://tyga-performance.com/site/index.php?cPath=72_1036_77 Here is the post on what to look for when buying a bike http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/what-to-look-for-when-buying-a-used-motorcycle.136/ Cheers Chris
Cheers kiffsta thanks for the links ill be checking them out for sure if this deal goes through. Was aware of the oil mix and petty. Gotta top up the oil under the seat every few rides or so. No electric start either but doesn't bother me
The NSR 150 is a great little bike. One of the club members here has one and he is 182cm tall. He is hard to keep up with on any road with bends. Fuel economy is not great, but its only 150cc so not too bad for the amount of fun you can have. A lot of speed parts available from Asia too.
welcome along, I had an old NSR 80 and 125 back in the day and if the 150 is in the same boat your on to a winner, they are a great bike, not as tempermental as the rs12's. happy posting
I swapped the guy for the bike. Very impressed with it So far I'm hearing positive reactions from everyone which is great.cheers guys. Its got a tyga exhaust and can and other goodies already
Hot 250 welcome and I hope you have as much fun with your 2 banger as Ive had with all mine over the years. ive got 3 at the moment 2 NSR 250s and a TZR 250 but I started 30 odd years ago on a Fantic GT 50 cc which back then would do 55mph. My favorite though was either a Kwaka AR 80 ( big bored to 100) and my X7. Once you get the hang of them you will never wipe the smile off ya face. Oh and be prepared for plenty of head scratching. Briz.
Hows it going brizfox? I'm looking forward to being more experienced on it. I'm definetly more of a fan of 2 bangaz myself. What do you mean about head scratching? Haha
