Picked the above up a few weeks ago in a few pieces. I have been trying to get the bike started. At first I had no spark but I diagnosed it at the kill switch as the wiring was wrong. this is how far i have gotten: all 4 plugs now fire starter turns over CDI, and coils (both sides) are in proper resistance range. removed air box to spray a couple of shots of the yellow can while turning it over. All this to not even a hint of running. Where to next? I havent had the tank on it yet as just trying to get that initial kick over. TIA
Buy 4 new plugs as start ya bastard kills plugs quicker than looking at them , next step is to ensure your fuel pump works as these fail all the time on mc19’s , then pull the carbs off, open the bowls and clean the slow jest, main jets and emulsion tubes ,’sort that out and as long as the engine is okay, it should start
Cheers. thought looking at the carbs might have been the next step but needed a bit of experienced confirmation. Hooked pump upto battery and it ran so i should be good there.
Thanks mate. Given the location of the plugs will a standard comp tester work or is there a specific one?
I knocked the guts out of an old plug and braized a 13mm about 100mm long tube to the top of it then a fitting to take the comp tester hose to that. Bit fiddly to fit but works well. Don't forget to open the slides and butterflys of the carbs to get a true reading.
Thanks for the heads up. Will get the carbs clean to see if that works and then head down this road aswell as valves
