Hi there. I am a new member to this site and have enjoyed looking around at all of the great info that is available. I have a 1886 Yamaha FZR 250 that I purchased last year which I can't get running after sitting for a few months. Even when it was running last year it took a lot of fiddling to make it happen. I plan on checking all of the usual culprits - fuel, spark, fuel pump and filter etc. In anticipation that I may need a new fuel pump I have noticed that those available online only make reference to newer models like the 3LN. It would be appreciated if you could let me know whether the aftermarket (or OEM) fuel pumps work for all years and if not which one would be right for my 1986 bike. Thanks, Dan
Welcome to the forum. I can't see there being a problem using a 3LN fuel pump on an older bike, A lot of the fuel pump's available on ebay and aliexpress are the earlier style anyway with both the inlet and outlet on the same end. They put out between 1.5 psi and 2.5 psi, make sure you run a decent filter between the fuel tap and pump too
to the forum Dan! You’re right about the wealth of info on this site! I just bought a pump from eBay, for my FZX250. It was just called ‘Yamaha 8mm fuel pump’ I think from memory? I’m not exactly sure if it’s identical to the FZR??? Try this link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/182824901015 My project is not finished yet, so I cannot vouch for its reliability, but so far, it fills the float bowls and cuts out like it’s supposed to...! I’m sure the boys on here will advise the best options for you. Where are you located in the world? Cheers, Ben.
