Hi all, I've been riding bikes most of my life, though only within the last 10 years have I gone on road. I started off with a CBR125 (yes... a motorbike shaped scooter). Sold that for a 08 Yamaha FZ6n. About the same time, acquired my project, a 73 Yamaha RD350, and only within the last few weeks, a 91 Honda CBR250RR (for 500 bucks!!) which led me to this site whilst I was researching bits and pieces. I like the structure of this site. It's got a nice clean layout and I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress. I'm also a member of some other sites. Perth Street Bikes and CBR250.com being two. Once again thanks for having me on board... Cheers. My CBR.. My FZ6n...
Hi huntsman, The bloke I bought it from said it had developed a fuel issue and took it to a place and was quoted 900 for the repair. I've already had it running (first go), and it seems the float on No 1 carby is stuck, hence heaps of fuel out the overflow. Mostly just time and effort to rectify. Might need to re-chrome the forks too but still, total price another 500 and it's mechanically good to go. Besides that, 1 or 2 cracks in the fairing, some minor rust on various fittings. All fixable with almost no outlay in cost, just time and effort. The fact I work in an engineering workshop helps too!!
Good stuff the amount of people that sell a bike off cheap because of carby issues is crazy! As the saying goes "one mans loss is another mans gain" engineering workshop well that's perfect for working on bikes!
Because I love my bike, here's a couple pics of my project. First one was when I first picked it up, second the strip down, last 2 not far from where it is currently. Nearly finished... so nearly finished...
