When I got my license I had to ride next to lady who was walking,do a figure 8.ride up the street and turn around. Ride back towards her, when she waved her folder I had to do an emergency stop. I did an endo.they weren't called stoppys back then. She then said ride around the block,I noticed she had a stopwatch. So I dawdled for a bit, then once I was out of site ,pulled a wheely. Then rode slowly around the last corner.when we went inside the lady gave me my license and asked how long had I been riding and do I live on a farm.ha

BUT!!! My thinking would be it is easier to pull away from the into traffic if you have reversed into the park.. Instead of trying to back you bike into traffic then take off...

Exactly .... same with cars ..... places that have nose to kerb parking makes it totally silly when trying to back out into traffic.

And pushing a light 125 backwards is one thing .... if your next bike is a Honda Goldwing u may do things different ........and roads are basically made to slope down to the gutters for the runoff.

That is why I always park the ST1100 rear to kerb, even when I go to those places which have the silly 'nose in parking'.
When questioned by the parking cop in Dubbo, I asked if he would be there to help me push 280Kg of bike back out of the gutter. He didn't reply and walked off!

Obviously a parking cop with no sense of humour?

I have been schooled, I feel bad I have flamed someone for doing somthing something legal... my riding instructor said to me that it was back wheel to the curb... maybe he wa strying to save me the embarrassment of trying to back a bike out aginst gravity.

Always rear in first :) My instructors said, copping a fine is alot cheaper than trying to pull your 750 up off the road after you dropped it trying to back it out!
