Hit a brick wall with the RMS yesterday registering the GSXR750. It's been out of rego for a year, it was a personal import & I can't get the old rego papers, they want to deal with it like it's a new import, big problem. I have all the papers transferring the ownership from one owner to the next from right back to the guy who imported it but they won't request the old rego papers from Vic Roads without the first blokes authority, whoever he is. If it was being registered in Vic then no problem, RMS has lost the plot. I've one more card to play, fingers crossed.
Bureaucracy you have to love it. I can tell a heap of stories about my dealings with that. Stupid rules made by incompetent people. How about that stretch your leg rule in Queensland? Wow that is a mind boggler. ". . . . and whilst serving as a minister in the Queensland Parliament I successfully introduced Article 864532 - Thou Shalt Not Stretch Thy Leg". Now there is some justification for an otherwise meaningless existence.
Contact these guys, http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/index.aspx as they will have the import approval paperwork and you can get a copy, they are very helpful, just give them the VIN number thanks Chris
Thanks Chris, I've done that, even got an automatic reply that they received my request & are dealing with it. The trouble is, I asked the blue slip guy, that with just the import papers it still won't help with getting it registered without going over the pits. The problem is that its got an aftermarket exhaust & finding a stock system will be expensive & time consuming, we aren't sure if the carbies are standard, jets seem to be stock but the pilots are bigger. They raced it at some stage & played with the carbs, anyway she might not pass the emisions test & on & on it'll go. She's just a weekend pleasure bike for my 72 yr old father. I've sent a message to an old mobile number to the guy who used to own it from the paperwork I have & we'll see if there's a response. Having the old rego papers just fixes it, the blue slip guy can deal with the rego online but without it he's stuck. Thanks anyway & yes they were very helpful in Canberra, much to my surprise, It seems NSW has lost it. How about trailers in Vic, no rego, it's all covered by the car. Solo registrations for bikes like QLD.
last time i went to carrington pits they walked around the bike outsideand no emissions or noise test. 485 bucks and regoed.
dealing with the RMS makes me as nervous as a dog going to the vet to get castrated There's kooks in charge and making sense in the way they do things isn't even optional, I'd hypothesise it's prohibited in that organisation
