A big weekend in the garage, my Cibby was leaking fuel in a big way, Phil came down for the weekend and we tried to find the leak, what we noticed was fuel was leaking from the fuel line, I replaced with a spare and still leaked.... bugger, time to get the Carbies off. I ended up stripping them all apart to make sure when I rebuilt them that the seal didnt get pinched.. nope, that was all okay. Phil asked if the T piece was okay, so he blocked both ended and we poured fuel in there and low and behold she leaked, it had a tiny crack . I have an old set of MC19 cabs, so they came apart and I used the T piece from them, but made sure the Litetek seals were used (Green is good) , reassembled the carbs, I was almost ready to fit them to the bike then I realsied that I left the choke holder off... <Insert lots of swear words here.> and <more swearwords here> Carbs stripped again , added the choke cable holder and put them back together, all good. Its was midnight, so it wasn't worth fitting them to bike. We were back at it this morning and fitted the carbs, air box and tank and she is now leak free. We also fitted up the fairings, drilled all the holes and bogged up some of the sins in the gel coat. Just need to sand the bellypan and I can arrange the paint. Im also at a crossroads, I think I need Tyga rear sets, but it seems a decadent purchase as the stock ones are okay ... I also need a new chain and sprockets but am not sure if I should go stock or mess with the gearing. Hopefully during the week I can pick up my wheels and get them on, then the fairings can be painted. Im close, but I keep finding new things I want to do. I will dig up the camera as I took a few photos of the progress, right now its time for a Corona or 3 and kick back.
I fitted tyga steps on my cibby and they look and feel good, I sure you can get a sprocket chain set witch is a size upgrade to, I got one for my bike wish I had gone for the smaller front and lager rear tho a bit more take off would be nice, cant wait to see you bike painted bet it will look killa,
Here are some fairing pics, the fairings bolts were sourced from Xcitebikes , and my replacement gas cap arrived today so on it went.
thanks Simon, probably as good a time as ever to pay tribute to Simon's bike prep page, that is what I have been using as a guide to building this one up. check it out at http://teamtiger.com.au/?page_id=80
I picked up my wheels yesterday with my tyres fitted, had a few hours free this morning so front is now on, new Goldfren brake pads fitted, bled the brakes with new fluid. My brake reservoir was scratched so I gave it a quick sand a fresh coat of paint. I made a vid of it running I am looking for a stock MC22 exhaust can
Ordered some Tyga rearsets from Xcitebikes.com.au , also ordered a Tyga front guard as mine is cracked.
I'm actually a fan of the shift light. It will help in those situations so you don't over rev when gearing down into corners.
Just picked up the Chain and sprockets for Chris from my mechanic, now we can put this thing together.
I have been thinking about what colour paint the old girl, I figure the tank is orange, might as well leave her as is. I dropped my fairings down to my painter today and he is going to apply a few coats of 2 pac high build primer to hide any casting sins, then give her a quick rub down. I have a paint shop about 5 mins away from home, so I'm going to swing by tomorrow and grab some paint and drop it off to him. I'm on the home stretch.... cant wait
Picked up the paint from MPA refinish supplies at Thorneside, I took down some of the old plastics and they matched it for me, turns out is a pearl so I bought 750mm of orange and 250mm of pearl, should match the tank nicely. They recommended 3 coasts of orange, 1 coat of pearl and 2 or 3 coats of clear, I dropped the paint off tonight to a mate who is going to paint it for me I also ordered the Tyga rear sets so we are good to go. Wallet is empty, but I think that's everything I need to finish the bike. There a few nice to haves that I want such as braided rear lines etc, but cant justify any more cash
Well , I came home from work yesterday to find my rear sets had arrived from Xcitebikes , so tonight they were fitted to the bike , my new chain and sprockets were also fitted (thanks Phil) back wheel is now on, new brake pads fitted. I wanted it all done tonight as I'm off to Melbourne tomorrow as I'm going to a bucks night, maybe next weekend she will be finished !!! So basically now I am waiting for the fairings to come back from the painter and she is done.
so here is an intersting question...which is faster??? a 250rr honda or a 250fzr of this vintage????????
