The bike is a non runner, seized brakes, been sat for 15 years, let the resto begin!................ http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?showcase/suzuki-gsxr-250-r.105/
I soaked a master brake cylinder that was about as gunked up as that in fresh brake fluid and managed to get the bulk of it off. The rest came off with Inox!
Very little room to work in, its almost winter here in blighty.....the rad fins were packed full of road grit & salt!!!
That's it for now, I have the rad to clean out, the carbs to sort, not sure what im going to do with the exhaust ports?....I managed to remove 6 hex drive bolts, 2 snapped....no worries. take it easy folk's, regards ade.
That is a lot of rust, you have some serious amount of cleaning ahead of you. You are going to need a few bottles of red before this lot is up to spec. We will be watching for more updates, go hard my friend.
You're a brave man. I'll stick around to see how it ends. BTW, I love your lazy Susan bike stand. You're obviously a very handy and inventive guy. Cheers
Looks like this will keep you busy during the long winter nights. Have you considered buying yourself a small sand blasting cabinet, would be a big help with all the rusty/corroded bits.
