Last night I was perusing Gumtree and spotted a bargain NSR250 , well my kitty was a tad dry and the seller knocked me back on my semi low offer so I called Brizfox and let him know about the bike, he was keen and asked if I could pick it up for him. I arranged collection with the seller and we were talking bikes, turns out he had a repairable write off MC22 in the garage as well which he wanted to sell. Brizfox met me in town today and gave me the cash for his NSR and I headed out after work with the trailer and came home with both bikes. I did pour some fuel in the MC22 and it started with a little coaxing .. WINNING The Cibby is an RRL model and copped a hit up the rear, suffice to say the panels and rear sub frame are totally buggered and its marked as a repairable write off so its not worth fixing and I don't need another track bike. I have a decent frame, so here goes another project to rebuild the bare frame with a mixture of parts that I have amassed. The vision is a totally stock MC22 but super clean and I dub thee, MR Blue as I have a blue tank, Im hoping to polish the frame etc so give it some street appeal. I will be talking to @XCite Bikes about some panels and bling. If anyone in Brisbane is interested in hanging out in the garage and helping me rebuild it, that would be cool, I will post some times and dates when I can fit it in. Few hours here, a few hours there and before long it will be back on the road. Cheers N Beers Kiff
Big thanks to Kifsta today for finding another NSR MC 21. Sounds like its an SE. Dry clutch and adjustable suspension. This bloke has an uncanny knack of sniffing out a bargain.
Mr Blue is dead. I was riding to work today and passed a CBR900RR Tigerblade, I have sent @paint-your-ride aka Ace of Sprays ( aceofsprays.com.au) a message to see if its possible. I now dub this "Project Tiger" as long as bob can source the decals and paint it
Definitely, Tiger Blade is one of the iconic versions of the ground breaking blade. Ace of Sprays do great work from what I have seen. Lots of pics please @kiffsta. Some lucky bugger will be getting a good bike.
We certainly have enough parts to make a good one I have just finished water blasting the frame and it has come up reasonable so far. Tomorrow will start polishing it up ready for the transplant. I am a fan of the tiger blade paint scheme, hope Bob can do his magic once again!!
Seeing as though the donor bike is semi complete, I thought I would drop the oil and filter and change it, the oil was very black and thick so I let it drain out for an hour before filling a new filter and some Motul goodness. Once that was done, I attached my portable fuel tank and tried to start it, it ran, but poorly so I pulled the airbox off and checked the carby slides, 2 out of the 4 were stuck, I gave them a wee push an they freed up, I started it again and it purred like a kitten, no bad sounds and it revved cleanly to 12000 rpm, I ran it like this for 20 mins and she ran like a top, temps were good, so Im confident this will be a good donor engine. I have now taken it outside and given it a degrease and a quick once over with the gernie, make it easier to disassemble if its not so grotty.
Speaking of gernie, the frame is completely cleaned up and ready for the transplant. Currently working on the headers and all being well should be ready for some paint soon. keep me posted as to what you think you might require.
@kiffsta mate as always give me the time and the date.. cory is keen as mustard to lend a hand as well
