Cheers, my mate who helped me paint it came out to the track just after it let go so he was bummed he didn't get to see it at pace. I'll try to keep the thread updated with photos of the broken bits and hopefully rebuild.
So note to self and lesson learnt. Check spark plugs more often than every four track days. Apparently running them constantly at 18,000rpm they work themselves lose. Did a leak down test on each of the cylinders and all came back perfectly. popped in new plugs and she fired back to life on the first crank. No noises or rattles so close shave and seems to be catastrophe averted. Still am a little suspicious to where the electrode has ended up. Hopefully it's gone out the exhaust but I'm still going to stick a magnetic wand down the cylinder and see if I can find anything.
Haven't cut the guages (much) but I have removed the speedo from them. Too much of a distraction and too much weight Also, I like to sing "Highway to the DANGER ZONE!" While I'm riding.
It appears you've got a 3LN6/7 tacho on there. Do you have the corresponding engine and cdi? If not, I'm not sure if the revs indicated will be correct.
You are correct. The tacho is wrong, but it was the one that was on it originally, I do have a spare 3LN1 tacho in a spares box but don't really see the point of swapping it over.. Only really use it as a reference anyway, most of the time I don't even look at it.
I doubt you'd want it, I have hacked the bottom half off so that it fitted with the custom ally front fairing stay. I do have another one, but I'm not sure what it is off, I'll check later if you like but can make no promises.
How well do the frame sliders work where they are positioned? I was going to weld a plate between those 2 bolts on the engine hanger and put it there. Also going to make a bracket to protect the "Engine Sliders", aka Stater Cover and Reduction Gear cover. Or did you manage to buy some? I just cleaned up one of mine over the weekend.
It depends on the crash. If it's a slide down the road then they'll do well, but if they hit the ripple stip then they tend to dig in and flip the bike. Either way be expecting fairing repairs, that's just inevitable. The engine covers are carbon/kevlar cheap and easy to make and repairable in a crash.
