I need a stock or less noisy exhaust can for my mc22. The roo racing carbon can is cool but it's so damn loud. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
That's sacrilege! Less loud exhaust bah! for shame! I'm thinking of throwing a gp exhuast on the 7r because why the hell not that's why
I don't want to annoy other people with it's volume. I don't really care how it sounds to be honest. But I don't want to draw attention to my self or the bike with a really loud cannon haha it's just not cool.
Haha righto then, remember though loud pipes save lives. often when in my car I hear a bike long before I can find it in my mirror.
I'm guessing that would ruin my bike? I thought you of all people would support me trying to make my bike stock?
The Musarri pipe with Db killer (baffle) is nearly as loud as stock. I had the same thoughts as you. Straight through pipe is fun to hoon in the hills but annoying most other times.
Honestly I think an aftermarket (and therefore) louder can is usually better to run with dude. Unless it's annoying you personally because of the volume or note (or for some other mechanical reason like bike is running too lean) - just ride carefully in areas you don't want to upset. The adage "loud pipes save lives" is quite true, the loudness makes people more aware of your presence which is an additional safeguard for you therefore it's a positive thing. If you're not riding like a maniac (which is more likely to attract attention regardless of the pipe) then you should be fine - if you have complaints just remember you can never keep everyone happy. Ride gently down your own street and I doubt people will think any less of you - in most cases they'll respect your consideration of them.
Honestly, I disagree with the "loud pipes save lives" argument. I don't think you need a loud pipe to ride safely. Paying attention and learning the habits of how people drive is so much more effective. Hoping people hear you and notice you is really not the best way to stay safe. I used to have my Megacycles Pipe on my MC22 and I didn't notice an increase in near-messes when changing to a quieter pipe. I looked into making my Mc22 quieter and the stock pipe or Musarri pipe with dB killer were the only two options. I went with the Musarri because the baffle is easily removed if I want a little better performance.
A little old lady nearly got me on Saturday, she never even looked, I was watching her & got ready for it, 40 yrs of riding you get another sense, I ran up beside her with the horn & she got a fright & pulled over. Testing is the answer, some people just shouldn't be driving, young & old, would a test every 10 yrs be so bad. Dads neighbor is blind in 1 eye & has a cataract on the other & can't see for **** & he's got a licence ! I'm afraid I like loud but nice loud not Harley loud ( now I'll be in trouble)
What does a 1940's Harley sound like...blaaaaaaa What does a 1970's Harley sound like...blaaaaaaa 1990's.....blaaaaaaaa 2015.....blaaaaaaa
The police are going to be hot around here for a month or so because there's been a few deaths on known roads where mature aged gentlemen are riding high powered, well loud anyway, bikes, ******* Harley's & crashing them into trees & other cars because they can't ride, can't corner & can't stop, now were all in the cross-hairs. A loud exhaust will attract attention at the moment so behave. The MV I rode on Sat had a stock exhaust, soooo much power, wasn't thinking about the exhaust then.
I'm not saying a loud pipe is a substitute for good riding skill I'm simply saying that the louder your pipe is the more people notice you - I think we can all agree that. I know for sure that the more people notice me the less time I have spent calling on my riding skills to get me out of trouble. Everyone's experiences may be different, but I have a lot of stories. No matter how good you are you can't always protect yourself from idiots.
Good points but the only benefit of a loud pipe for me is a more powerful noise maker (horn substitute). But yeah, probably 70% of the reason I wanted a quieter exhaust was out of respect to my neighbours/others and 30% because I got over the noise being so loud. Even cruising at 11-12k RPM was too loud I thought with a quiet exhaust but I had the best I could find. I even thought about getting a custom exhaust made like the Ninja 650!
