Hey guys, Have 2 zxr250 (a & c) both have pretty well perished leads also one of the leads was clean broken away from the plug when I got it. Does anyone know where to source brand new leads? Thanks
I would take a lead to an auto electrician and get a bulk length of HT cable and cut to size as required I would also consider fitting new caps http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/ngk-resistor-covers-identification-and-part-numbers.1118/ http://stores.ebay.com.au/thegreensparkplugco?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
I don't think you will get JDM spec parts.. Best bet is to buy some second hand ones.. BUT people don't normally part with them as they are a vital part in the sale of the coils.. But is saying all this.. If you can find a long enough end on the lead to go down into the block and attach to the spark plug wouldn't any old lead do?
Yea the only hitch can be if they can be removed from the coil easily .... I don't know on the ZXR but the FZR coil/lead is a bitch
Hi All, Has anyone had any success with finding a new set of leads yet? As I'm going to do a full service this weekend and would like to replace my plugs and leads while I'm at it.
You can fit any HT leads - carbon or copper core. Just buy a new length (say 2metre to allow for mistakes) from a roll. Then unscrew from the coil and HT cap side so you can measure the old ones and cut the new to size. Screw back in, job done.
Thanks guys, Iv been doing more researching on the internet this morning just because I was not happy with believing that the only place I could buy leads from was the UK!! (Thanks by the way for the link @GreyImport). I have found someone in bray park (Brisbane) that should be able to help me out, he is going to get back to me later on today. I will let you everyone know how I get on hopefully this is a reliable contact and we can spread the word around that we can buy leads closer to home!! Finger Crossed
success I have found someone that can supply me with all the ignition lead that I need at a cost of around 18 dollars for 2m and no its not red @tarmacsurfer lol. The bloke I spoke to runs under the name Queensland Ignition leads PH. 0416 366 486 I think he used to be out at kallangur now he works from his house I think. I said that I would mention him here so that other people who are chasing leads want have to go through the some head ache as I did looking for this stuff. Finger crossed that the new plugs and leads help out the old girl after all I am gunning for the quarter mile hall fame record lol.
So I've changed my plugs leads had the stator rebuild and rewired all the burnt out old wiring plus I've moved the reg to the front of the bike and boy what an improvement it's all made the bike feels 100 percent again with perfect volts across the board even under full load, (head lights, fan, indercators, and brakes). I'll try and put some picks up over the weekend of the new wiring and placement of the reg rectifier. Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk
Well done mate, moving the R/R is a good move considering the heat generated. Feel certain some pictures of the R/R relocation will help others who have similar issues....good job
Plus I used up rated connectors from the stator to the reg now rated to 45 amps which is a real help aswell considering the load the whole system carries. Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk
I made a short video showing how the bike is running after the installation of the rebuild stato Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk
Wow I just ring a few local bike shops, it's about $5/m but not all of them stock it any more. More common from dirt bike shops (like KTM dealers). It's all the same, copper core. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
