A while back @Malarkey bought his non running CBR250RR R MC22 to my place for some attention, carbs were stripped, cleaned, oil and coolant changed and he heard it run. Now he knew it was a runner, we set about making a list of parts to get such as carb boots, brake pads, tyres, battery, grips, rear brake fluid reservoir, heal guards, RH Hand rear set plus a few other bits and bobs. So on Monday night, Malarkey dropped the bike over, it went up on some stands so the wheels could be taken away and new tyres fitted. We arranged for today as a garage day to sort it out. I did a few jobs through out the week such as replacing switch blocks and grips, fitting new heal guards , replaced the tail light in anticipation of working on it today. I also invited Phil down , many hands make light work. Malarkey came over and we kicked off at 1pm and first job was the fork seals, then the bike was put back to being a roller with new tyres, the exhaust and headers were removed and painted in hi temp exhaust paint then refitted. Next job was the rear set, we worked out the brake switch was dodgy so we grafted one on from an Across. After that the carb boots were replaced with new genuine Honda ones , carbs back on the bike then they were balanced. So far so good. The choke cable was really stiff so we replaced it with a spare one, problem sorted. Next job was the brake, we put new pads front and rear and then bled them with new dot 4 fluid. The front fairing went on and we found the nd hand LH switch block was dodgy, high beam button doesn't work. Bugged. We decided to push on and get the rest of the fairings on which was a challenge as the fairings have had a rough life. After it was all together I wanted to take it for a test ride and guess what, the battery was flat , we grabbed the jump pack and it kept turning over but would not start, Phil hit the nail on the head, no fuel so the tank was taken off, I replaced the petcock with a spare and it leaked fuel everywhere so we took the tank off and stripped and clean Malarkeys old petcock, problem solved, went to take it for another test ride and the battery was flat. We were too tired to keep going, some tomorrow I will charg the battery and have a crack at a test ride. So close, yet so far. Should have just bump started it for a quick test ride. I bump started my CBR600RR on my drive way the other day. I used to do the little cibby all the time (well, when it sat for a little bit) although probably not nice to the clutch.
Oh trust me, we tried haha. No luck though, it was a big day and getting pretty late so we decided to call it quits. A huge shout out to kiffsta, it's been great fun learning about the bike as we go along. It would of never happened without his help!
That was one hell of a long day, but she is close....oh so close to running. Once the fuelling issue is sorted all will be well
Paul came over today, new switch block and petcock were fitted and she is all sorted. I did a few runs up the street and she runs and rides really well. We gave the chain a good clean, I think its pretty close to passing a RWC and getting some rego, some images for your viewing pleasure.
I think this kiffsta guy knows a thing or two about MC22s.... Looks good! I'm looking forward to taking mine for spin (1month and 1week to go!).

one thing you may want to do to really "bling" the frame is get a green scrubbing pad( the ones you use to wash you dishes), if you look close you will see the "grain" of the steel(the small scratches on the surface) all traveling in one direction.... Rub the frame down with it, plenty of pressure and it will come out shiny and clean... It will also get ride of the the dull look on the swing arm as well...
All depends on what finish he is looking for. If he wants a "grain" or "3m" finish he would just need to green scrubbing pad, if he was after a mirror finish I would suggest purple.. That being said it all depends on how much purple he uses and how much pressure he is using when using the purple...
