Hey guys, just briefly..... Im converting my front end to ZXR250A (89) and i have read that you just use two top steam bearings from the 3LN..... Now what actual size is the top stem 3LN bearing? Mine is stamped "25x48x13".....when i look up the part number for a stem bearing kit it shows the bearing part numbers as "43Y1" and "48Y1" which is a 25x43x11 and 30x48x12? Im soo confused. What size is it supposed to be? And i cant even find "25x48x13" bearings in Australia, closest ive found is UK...... Cheers for the help, sorry if im just having brain fade haha
check this thread, I'm in the process of doing the same thing - lost my momentum recently http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/zxr-usd-fzr-fork-conversion.8855/#post-91204 25x48x13 is available from Pyramid parts as a single bearing, it's a tapered roller bearing, better to get two of the ones you actually need rather than two 3ln sets having to discard one from each set
Yeah i had checked that thread mate haha. When i was looking for "25x48x13" i found Pyramid and they say that they are in Aus and list them on Ebay as if they are in Aus but they all ship from UK. May have found a supplier in Oz but wont know until tomorrow. Other than that i will just have to order from them. Cheers. Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
Also, so just fitting that size bearing to the bottom of the stem allowed clearence on the neck? As it looks like the base will rub... Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
I haven't fitted my forks yet, sorting out FZR wheel & brake conversion still - looks like I will go to 298-300mm front discs on the fizzer wheel so use the ZXR calipers as the simplest route for now
Uhhhh yep got my posts confused. Im just leaving my front wheel as teh ZXR front and probably going to chuck the ZXR rear wheel on maybe. See what happens. Its naked and has a Cafe/Brat/Street Fighterish style to it so the ZXR wheels look a bit better IMO.
Great, now there are two of you that I can nag about the dimensions of the ZXR250 and the 3LN front forks. Then I can add them to the database here http://litetek.co/Guide_USD_ForkDatabase.html
I just ordered the set thats on slipstream as i need some asap. Il work something out and measure stuff tomorrow. Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
I'll keep my word Blair and give you a full suite of measurements. I did notice something interesting, the upper triple looks to be thicker (higher) at the headstock so I'll factor that into the measurements. Given the additional thickness, fork length at the top of the triples will be misleading as the true datum point, the top of the headstock will be slightly different
The fork length measurements in the database are axle centre to top of stanchion not to top of cap. The offset top clamp is quite common on many models but I have not made a column for that. Cheers Blair
apologies, poorly explained on my part, I will measure the fork lengths in the standard sensible fashion. I was referring to the height of the top triple at the headstem upper, the ZXR looks to thicker/higher. Hypothetically, for arguments sake let's say that upper triple is 10mm higher, therefore for the same ride height in the front when the ZXR forks are in ZXR triples flush at the stanchion top, if they were exactly the same length as say Fizzer forks, they would actually be 10mm lower because of the extra height to the top face of the upper triple clamp. So I'm just saying for a fork swap database, that height of the top triple (where there are differences) over the headstem in the frame may count for slight adjustment in actual ride height and geometry
Yes, that is correct. I knew that is what you were referring to. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/trail-fitting-usd-forks.3046/ See part 3.
