Help Cam chain tensioner GSX250f

    Hi guys,

    So I think im going to replace the cam chain tensioner on my suzuki across.
    Is this a hard job? Any advice?
    Also how much will I be looking for the part/where to get it?????

    CCT is not really a hard job. The hardest part will be getting access to it without removing too many pieces of bike in the way.

    Usually the casing is held in by 2 bolts and then you have the tensioner bolt itself.

    The CCT is located at the back of the engine block right in the middle above the cases. There is probably a bit of stuff in the way, you will most likely have to remove the air box and carbs (not 100% sure I have a GSXR which is the same engine). It's important that it is installed correctly otherwise major engine damage can occur. before bolting it in you need to remove the cap (two small phillips head screws), then wind the spring back with a flat blade. I recommend a stubby screw driver, you need to hold the tension on the spring until you have bolted the tensioner back to the block. It needs to be all the way in hand tight before releasing, if the screwdriver slips wind it back out and start again. Also don't just let the tensioner snap back in, slowly release the screwdriver. Put the cap back on, then I would recommend turning the engine over by hand 2 revolutions to make sure it comes out the right amount and doesn't over extend. Good luck!
