Greetings all. I have recently picked up an '89 ZXR250A to use as a daily rider. After 20 plus years of piloting a '77 Z1000A1, I reckon that something a bit lighter would be more manageable for the daily commute. And I am having a blast on the ZXR. Front brakes that virtually stop on a dime is something previously unknown to me. And the cornering abilities!!! 140 kg versus 240 kg. Don't get me wrong, I love me Z, but I am growing extremely fond of the ZXR. PS I did have a chuckle about the following japanese -> engrish translation that premium members have access to in RESOURCES.
kz100a, I can understand your comment on the weight of your Z1000. I to also had issues with my old bike weighing in at 215 kg in stock factory trim , mine weighed considerably less but still to heavy for me plus other issues i have. Bike at the moment via the spec's weigh's in at 121 kg ( dry weight) , so it's going to be interesting on the first ride , well i'f it ever get's finished off that is .
Thanks all for the warm welcomes! @2valve - I have been riding the zxr for over a month now, and am getting used to twisting the throttle hard (as you do). I thought that I had better take the z out for a whirl the other day, and was in still in “twist throttle hard” mode; Bejebus! The z almost launched out of my white knuckled hands! It’s amazing how a set of RS34 flat slides can suck the hydrocarbons down. Note to self - change riding styles accordingly.
Hi. Yep been there , i know the feeling about to throttle action.Bought a new GPX 250 back in the day's , super nice bike to ride , so light / so flickable / brakes that worked very well and the engine used to rev so hard that i wasn't yous'e to. And then firing up my old BM (not stock) was the complete opposite , super nice to ride though , but had no brakes at all compared to the GPX / around 80Kg heavier over the GPX / so little throttle action was needed for that bike to get up and go even with a euro diff fitted , so the opposite of the GPX. Memory's !
