Simple job became a nightmare!!!!! Tried to remove fuel hose to the carburetor so that I could simply remove my petrol tank to empty the old petrol left at the bottom of the tank. I accidentally did not undo the jubilee clip enough and when I tried to pull the rubber fuel pipe off from the carburetor, I instead pulled out the brass tube that comes from the side of the carburetor...... which stayed inside the fuel hose. I have pushed this brass tube back onto the carburetor but not sure how to make sure it does not come loose in the future. It feels snug. Does this mean that I might need a whole new carburetor perhaps??? Many thanks for any useful ideas.
Wow, I think those are usually press fit? no idea how you could muscle one out without ripping the brass apart, even worse no idea how to properly fix it
Give the carb and brass tube a real good clean in thinners or brakeclean, then apply a small amount of epoxy (eg Devcon, Scotch weld, etc) to the outside of the tube and lightly tap back in with a piece of wood. Whatever epoxy you use it must be petrol proof.
