Help CB250RSD unknown wire

Does anyone know where this green wire should be connected to?
all the electrics work apart from the right hand indicator rear light stays on and front one doesn't, might not be relevant at all

 

I'm no auto electrician but I noticed the same thing on my cb250rs. I have since made sure that all the new blinkers have good earth and power connections, and replaced the blinker can with a new 2 pin utilising the same 2 wires, with the extra one like you have pushed aside and with no contact. Everything works well. I also noticed another wire that stopped in "mid air" inside the headlight bucket. In both cases the wire connections looked like they had never been used. Maybe they used a wiring loom for several bike models and those connections were used in them.

 

This is what I have.

 

The photo above shows the green wire pushed aside just for show. The old can - which couldn't operate the new 10w blinkers - is bottom right, the new smaller Narva 2 pin flasher needs a little bit of rubber to hold it in place.

 

It's not connected to anything on either of mine and wasn't when Scarlet's electrics were working correctly.

I'd hazard a guess that the same wiring loom was used on multiple models and it's an unused connection on the CB250RS?

I'll check the wiring diagrams in my manuals over the weekend just to make sure.

 

Think that wire is for the front indicators so they remain lit when lights on..think it was a USA requirement in some states..then again Im wrong a lot

 

You would need 3 pin flasher at least for 4 x hazard flashers?

 

According to one wiring diagram the green wire does nothing so I'll agree with the above comments that it is an extra, same as the spare wire in the headlamp. As for the indicators it looks like I have to clean all the contacts to get them to work.

Indicator saga continues. I tried cleaning all the connections looking for a solution.
Pulled the green wire off on the right hand indicator stalk stem and both the right hand indicators worked correctly...for about 10 seconds and then it stopped again, the rear light staying on as before. Reconnecting improves nothing.
I found that the the black block connector inside the headlamp shell stops the indicators when that is pulled apart, why i don't know. Lamps are good, fuses good, temper not so good.
Any advice, it has to be something simple.

 

Also change the flasher can they can do strange things as they die....check the wattage of the bulbs and that the sockets are clean....

 

Try a new can, my old one worked the left but not the right. Check again the earthing arrangements for the front blinkers, i.e. The earth to the stalk riveted behind the blinker lens to the headlight bracket to the headlight mounting bolt etc. I had a similar problem in that nothing worked unless I moved stuff around those red and white connectors. Doing that at night I could see the tiny little sparks where small holes exposed wires, and wiring mistakes from the previous owner.

 

after a frustrating afternoon in between the showers (Irish summer) I was putting the headlamp back into the shell when the indicators suddenly starting properly, sooooo I'm going to have to strip the lot out and start again.
It must be a dry intermittent dodgy connection, something easy once I've found it.
I'm also going to get some original style bullet connectors to replace the half dozen terminal blocks left by a previous owner, anyone ever found some quality replacements? not worried about the cost as I only need a few.
