After my last dirt ride the chain on the XL was full of dust and not much lube, so off and into the cleaning tank for a through scrub up and blow dry with compressed air. Left in sun for 1/2 hour to make sure all washing chemical was evaporated, rolled up and put in the Duckhams tin.
    Remember these?

Onto the stove and heat until the chain soaks into the now melted grease.

I then hang up to dry and let the excess drain down into the tin for future use. Fitted back on the bike and a dollop of silicone on the master link for securtiy.

I must admit that this isn't purely what it says on the tin as there has been various amounts of graphite grease and soap added to it over the years, but it works well and will last around 2 to 3,000 Km before I have to do it again. I do keep plenty of spray on lube on the chain and wipe it down with a kero soaked rag regulary. (Note; this is a NON O ring chain, you cannot do this to O ring chains as the O rings will prevent the melted grease from getting to the pins, and may melt the O ring too.)
