Hi all, I am chasing some advice weather this is caused by the clutch cable or not. When I pull the lever it it doesn't retract all the way, the clutch arm actuator springs back fine when the clutch cable isn't connected, when connected it springs back about half way. As far as I can tell it's the cable causing it not to spring back.

This is before I pull the lever in

This is after I pull in and release. That's as far as it will retract.

    Now after.

Sounds like sticky cable to me. Disconnect at clutch lever and dribble some light oil down the cable. I get a small plastic bag (about cigarette packet size) and snip off a bottom corner about 6mm wide, slip over end of cable and zip tie (or tape) in place to form a little funnel. Add about a tablespoon of engine oil and leave for a few hours to soak down the tube. Refit to lever when oil gone.

Could be a kink in the cable or way out of adjustment

I would pull the cable off and make sure the cable isn't damaged and the cable itself is moving freely inside the casing.
Hang it up vertically and tip a bit of oil down the casing .....just a small amount a few times and it will eventually drip out the bottom .... then u have a lubed cable
While youre waiting for the oil to travel down the cable pull off the lever and adjuster and clean them and then on reassembly grease the lever pivot.

When u put it all together , adjust the bottom end first , then adjust at the lever with a couple of mm free play

From what I can tell it has a kink at the top of the cable. The cable itself moves but it does seem to have some trouble at the top and also when I tried to twist the cable itself it didn't twist around to easy. I will give the lube a go. If it's kinked should I buy a new one?

I tend to use a bit of RP7 for stuff like this, but kinks aren't easy to work out of the cable. Telling you what you already know here but go to the local dealer, should be on shelf and shouldn't be much at all, easiest fix.

I believe you can retro fit a regular bike cable to your clutch cable you just need the original housing to get the accurate length.
