Kiffsta it says on impex the A and B2 models have the AE on the code this is where my confusion stems from as from what I know the B2 engines are special aren't they ?

Ah thank you very much ,I'll see if he replies some time hopefully . It would be super if it was a b model engine even though the chance is so slim

@sharky can confirm if it's a special B engine, but every A engine I've ever had has always been an ZX250AE engine. I think because your engine number starts with 'ZX250AE01' it might make it a B2 engine.

That is an A or B model, but unfortunately the SP models are identified through frame numbers not engine numbers & yours is in a C model anyway, with most bikes who knows if the motors have been transplanted at some earlier stage in life. All standard A & C models frame# starts with a 0, the B1 B2 & D models frames start with a 3, so check near your headstem for a 3 people. 20180103_132510.jpg B1 models frame# 300001- B2 frame# 301501- D1 frame# 300001-, the one above would be a B2. The 1-3rd gear ratios are different, I haven't looked to closely at that, yet, but that would be the indicator to look for in the gearbox.

Maybe you could make a thread about this and Mr @GreyImport could sticky it. Then the info about the SP models could be accessible and not lost. :)

Would be really cool to see the difference in the gearboxes if the ratios are much different .would be alot of work to determine if it's a b engine or not unfortunately

Aren’t the carbs on the b model cvkd32’s and cvkd30’s in the standard zxr ? Surely that would be a “tell”

Is the measurement of the carbs the diameter of the throat ?

I've got an A engine and 32mm carbs...it was a popular upgrade for more top end with a slightly loss of midrange.

Gear ratios is the only really good way of being sure

Oh, that's an A engine. And, it's an early one too. Check what engine number is actually on the engine.

What numbers are on the TCI? 21119-????

Should be okay, I can jet the carbs to suit whatever it's running.

Yes, measure on the engine side is easiest.
