I know of a few of the guys with cbr250s have been importing engines from Japan through middlemen after buying off the Japanese Yahoo Auction site. I have only just become aware of this place and it seems to have a whole lot of fzr parts including whole engines and about 1000 radiators. Just one of the better engines that I found. It is up to $160AUD last time I checked. Just thought you would be interested in this information. website. http://translate.google.com/transla...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=/language_tools
Hey Ciaran, do you have any contact details for those guys that were acting as middlemen? There's quite a few items on there that would be worth importing, as long as shipping & handling didnt quadruple the price (and even then it'd still be cheaper than buying from over here).
Yeah, their are escrow services that operate from the yahoo site but I will have to get some more info off some other blokes that have actually done it. I will see what I can do for ya.
Oh they also have whole bikes, for $2,300AUD this would be a good buy even if the shipping was a killer. [Drool] [/Drool]
not to worry!! looks like i will be scrapping the bike and buying a bandit 600. it means a hefty loan and it will mean that it cost me over €2500 (AU$4,500 - AU$5,000??) to have my fizzer 4 months, covering less than 3000km. ah well. **** happens. anybody need any bits for a 3ln? almost everything else is perfect on the bike
I had a wee look at the Japanise e-bay... 2 x CBR250R (MC19) for under $600 with 20,000km... and no bids Ok so there are cheep bikes out there.. but than I have seen same bike with a top bid of... od $1700... so go figure... also MC22 for $2700... parts.. some some seam to be good value.. So does any one know any one living in Japan willing to do a bit od e-baying??
I have been looking into it a bit more today while I am waiting for some paint to dry. Seems like it will set you back $60AUD min to buy an item + the bid price + shipping to Australia. It doesn’t look to be of much value for small parts. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!-- s -->
I have just spent ages going through that japanese link yahoo site. Why can't ebay.com.au look like that? @ciaran: can u please post back your findings - I would syndicate if anyone else was keen on importing
I found this place was a bit better than the google translator. Just put in this site <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/">http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/</a><!-- m --> and convert from jap to english <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html The guys over at the cbr place haven’t been much help but I found most of the stuff on a skyline forum. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t69453.html That should keep you going for a while.
