Hi, Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of getting dents in fuel tanks repaired? Unfortunately i have a couple in mine that i would like repaired. Any advice on methods of repair and where i could get it done would be greatly appreciated. Have also contacted dent doctors just waiting for a resonse from them. Also just wondering if there is any merit in getting full fairing vinyl transfers/wrap done on my bike as opposed to a full repaint. The fairing is quite deeply scratched and the stickers are not much chop. Previous owner has obviously replaced the top half of the fairing and tried to respray it but is a fairly ordinary job. Thanks for any advice or help. nat
Hey Nat I looked into vinyl wrap a while back and most ppl on forums said it was hit and miss , particularly on the tight corners. I have a GPX250 tank here if your interested, send me a PM. As for painting, Im currently talking to member paint-your-ride about getting the NSR painted, he is the Redlands and he might do you a deal, worth a PM to see ? thanks Chris
hi i can remove some dents by pulling them out but not without needing a repaint after as the metel on a fuel tank is quite thick to withstand impact so you need to use a bit heat which mean the tank needs to be cleaned out and all vapours removed before you even start on the dent but it can be done just takes time and oftern the cost of a doner tank works out cheaper but sometimes you just cant find a tank thats not rotted out or a rare model then its worth the cost
