The vtr exhaust has a bolt in each header pipe, (and a hole just in front of the muffler) that’s permanently open. Anyone know what the function is?

Ok, thanks. Next question is, given these carbs have blanked off idle screws what adjustments are possible? Or do they blank off the carbs after the idle mixture is set?

Any pic's of the blanked off mixture screw's?
If they are like little welsh plug's there you can drill a 1mm hole in them, then screw in a self tapper and use plier's to remove it

I was going to say the same thing but thought I would let the VTR owners answer that. Seems they are not about right now.

I was just repairing a vtr exhaust and noticed the bolts in the headers.. The bike is actually running beautifully after carb cleaning, starts instantly and revs happily all the way to where it shouldn’t. As the manual tells me not to fiddle with the blanked off screws and it’s running a bog stock exhaust no real need to fiddle I think.. just interested in the how and why of how these things work. Thanks heaps for the responses.
